From F1 Live:

David Coulthard may be warming to the idea that his long career in formula one is nearing an end.

The German specialist magazine Auto Motor und Sport claims that "only a miracle" will now prevent Red Bull Racing from fielding its preferred lineup of Mark Webber alongside Sebastian Vettel in 2009.

Asked about the speculation, Scot Coulthard, who has contested 236 Grand Prix, coyly replied : "I have plans for the future."

He admits it is unlikely that his plans will involve a switch to another F1 team, and also played down the possibility of following his friend Jacques Villeneuve to NASCAR.

"I doubt it would satisfy me," Coulthard said.
"After F1, everything else is a step down."

Auto Motor und Sport reports that the most likely next move for Coulthard is a management role at RBR, but it is also rumoured that he has been offered a spot as an expert pundit for British television in 2009.

If Alonso leaves Renault and Piquet gets booted out... Coulthard in a Renault Hint Hint. :yikes:

But seriously I'd imagine he'll stick with Red Bull, go into the testing side and of course join Christian Horner and co on the pit wall, he deserves it, alot of his hard work that has moved em up.

I think Coulthard should try moving to the BTCC. He'd have fun competing in it and would still get to see his girlfriend, I mean Louise Goodman because of ITV's coverage of the series.

I agree. Coulthard may not quite be the driver he was, say, ten years ago, but he's still got a lot to offer racing. His experience and skill could be put to much better use than working for the BBC.

Straight switch to Torro Rosso if it's not sold by then?
