Martin Brundle and John Watson would be a fantastic pairing.

I enjoyed John Watsons coverage during the F1 Digital+ year...

John Watson would be a great idea... but I think it's gonna be David Croft and Martin Brundle.

I just had a random thought - with the BBC taking over they could draft the Top Gear team in, ok it wouldnt win awards or be the best commentary ever but my god it would be funny

one thing I hate about JA recently he never puts the enthusiasm at the start of the race :( , you know like the way murry walker did and you were scared cos you thought If he didnt take a breather soon, the old man would keel over!

james is more like:

*the lights go out*
*the cars start going*
*the cars reach the first corner, maybe a few overtaking meneuvers have taken place*
*a crash happens*
JA: "and er yer...its erm.. go.. they er reach the first corner.. and.."
*10 laps pass*
JA: "lewis is still stuck behind that other guy, whats his face"
*another 10 laps pass*
*Fisico parks it in the gravel*
JA: "OH NO ITS NOT LEWIS HAMILTON IS IT!!.....NO.. NOPE its that other guy in that car that looks like a mclaren, dont worry fellow british people who must all support lewis"
*the race ends*
*lewis misses a podium place*
JA: "its a bad day for racing"

you get the jist. Surely the BBC can find someone better! a reincarnation of murry!

I know I have said this before but James Allen isn't that bad...

Yes, J.A. is not THAT bad, but he is not THAT good either.
Martin however, is brilliant and is a 'must have' for any TV co. presenting F1. The fact that he is a bit controversial sometimes is great and I think that the BBC can stand that. M.B. must put up the ratings. Murray Walker was also great even though he was not controversial, but he was, - well , he was 'Murray Walker' ! and a great character who also knew about his subject even though he got things wrong so often.
J.A. is not a character, is not controversial and does not seem that well versed in the subject. He makes comments that irritate many fans and media people but he does not change, at best he is average, F1 is more than average and needs better than average presenters.
I agree that Anthony Davidson was good on his 'go'. A good 4 man team would be M.B., Anthony D., Jackie Stewart (to replace Mark Blundel), Not sure about Steve Ryders replacement - Eddie Irvine? :D , Louise? , AKR  ? Me :D ?

Hamster stated on Radio 1 this morning that he absolutely won't be hosting/commentating next year as he doesn't like F1 and knows nothing about it :?

Well damn. Let's hope to high heaven they don't grab their soccer muppets, or worse, ITV's pile of no-hopers.

I hear Jim Rosenthal is in need of work...

Well that would be a turnaround. Didn't Steve Rider get his job in F1? ITV poached him from the BBC I believe................Karma is really good at biting you on the arse

*shudders at the thought of seeing Gary Lineker's annoying mug at the start of F1 coverage* Please no.

The perfect line up in my view would be Martin Brundle and David Croft as the main commentators. Just don't hire Tamara Eccelstone to do the behind the scenes interviewing... please. Anyone remember the ITV pre season special where she interviewed Kimi on a Ski lift... you could just imagine Kimi thinking "Your sh*t, fu*k off!" whilst she was helplessly trying to conduct a half decent interview.

That interview was cringeworthy. I felt sorry for Raikkonen, as well as Massa and the other Ferrari staff.
