kubica going to Mclaren will be the death of his career. He needs to stay as far away from Lewis as possible and continue to build BMW into a top F1 team. Let Lewis and Ron orchestrate the death of Mclaren by themselves

Silly season continues.

Seven races into the 2008 championship, F1's annual 'silly season' has found a higher gear.

The latest gossip from Italy is that Nico Rosberg, Williams' German driver who was courted by McLaren at the end of last year, has now triggered the interest of BMW Sauber.

BMW's existing driver, the young world championship leader Robert Kubica, was asked by the newspaper La Stampa if he endorses the idea of farewelling Nick Heidfeld at the end of 2008.

"For me it wouldn't change anything," the Pole said. "It doesn't matter if it's Nick or it's Nico. My team-mate is only one of the 19 drivers I have to beat."

"With regards to contracts, this is not my job so I leave it to others.
"

It has also been suggested recently that Kubica's quick and consistent form this year may even have stirred the interest of Ferrari.

Fascinatingly, the 23-year-old does not deny that it is most drivers' 'dream' to move to the Italian squad.

"And if I am not mistaken, in Italy you have the saying, 'things come to those who wait'."

We're looking at the wrong team here :)

[Edit:]
OK, one more:
Robert Kubica has revealed that he is no longer as close to formula one rival Lewis Hamilton as he once was.

23-year-old Kubica, who snatched the lead of the drivers' championship from the similarly aged Hamilton in Canada a week ago, has known his new title challenger since their karting days.

But although they are often cited as contemporaries and friends, Kubica played down their closeness in an interview with the Italian newspaper La Stampa.

"We have had similar careers and there is mutual respect," Kubica said.

"But I have the impression that we embarked on our adventure in F1 with a different mindset and this has made us lose a bit of contact.

"And he doesn't know how to play poker," Kubica joked.

So, Kubi doesn't like to play with Lewis anymore. Further 'no' to McLaren?

Streching a bit, but between the lines I read: "doesn't matter who my team-mate is, as long as it's Alonso"

I read the article and found it interesting. It gives us an un-biased view of who Hamilton is!

This quote tells it all: "While Hamilton's recent exploits involved attending movie premieres, holidaying with pop stars and attending the MTV music awards  , former Grand Prix driver Martin Brundle observes that Kubica only wants "a roof over his head, food and a fast racing car."

Way to go Kubica :D

So Robert may not want lewis for a best buddy. So what? Ask Nico and you'd get a different answer. So what?

Oh look, the Lewis apologists are here...

Anyway, it seems the rumour that Robert was more interested in either staying put or going to the Red Team was essentially true.

If Kubica has any sense (which is almost certain), he'll stick with BMW for at least a couple of years, though hopefully for the majority of his career. Between 2006 and now, they are the most-improved team on the grid and show no signs of slowing their development. Next year could be their big year, seeing as they're so close already. And now that they have achieved their goal for 2008, they could sneakily throw 80% of their development efforts into next year's car, giving them a huge advantage over Ferrari and McLaren. Renault, Honda and Toyota should do the same, seeing as the battle for fourth place is likely going to be between Williams and Red Bull.

I agree he'd be wise to stay put at the moment, BMW lokng v good and he can make it his team. time to change is if that doesnt work out.

The problem is that they are leading the WDC and pretty close on the WCC... I don't think they'll throw the towle on this year and consider they got what they set out to achieve. What I'm sure BMW will do is try and stay competitive this yr until either Ferrari or Mclaren get the jump and leave them far behind. If and when this happens, then i think it is sensible to halt 08's development and focus on '09, as it is now...
BMW would be foolish to give up on this season because: Who knows where the titles are :?::?:

Honda, Williams, and Force India have already admitted that they are putting more effort into developing next years car than this years.

But back to the topic, if Kubica leaves BMW its without a doubt going to be at Ferrari. I heard he is rather fond of Italians, and speaks fluent Italian, but if I were him I would stay at BMW for the next couple of years just like someone else here said. I love Kubica's joke when he says Hammy cant play poker. But all in all you can tell he wants Alonso to be his teammate.
