Fascinating. Kimi should join a Queen tribute band.

Hamilton says he can still win in France http://www.autosport.com/news/report.php/id/68208

Briton Lewis Hamilton believes he can still win the French Grand Prix despite the penalty he was given in Canada.

The McLaren driver will lose ten grid positions at the Magny-Cours race after crashing into the back of Kimi Raikkonen when he failed to see the red light at the end of the pitlane in time.

Although that means Hamilton will start from at least 11th place in France, he is still confident he can finish on top.

"I feel quite confident that we can still win there. That's my job," Hamilton was quoted as saying by Reuters.

"I've got to have that belief in myself and the team. I still feel we can finish in the top three but it's going to be a real challenge."

Hamilton also dismissed suggestions that the Montreal incident was a career low.

"It was nowhere near one of my lowest points. I don't even particularly feel it was a low point. It was one of those things you just have to come to terms with and move on. In the race I was on top of my game," he said.

The Briton lost the championship lead to BMW Sauber's Robert Kubica in Canada and is now four points behind the Pole.

He added: "I believe it is going to be very difficult to win but I don't plan on it going to the last race. We will push as hard as we can to do the job, it doesn't matter if it is early or the last race. So long as we get it done."

If any driver enter's a race without the belief that they can win, no matter what their chance's are, they should start washing luandry or serving at the local pub.

Yep. And I look forward to watching Lewis try

Hey, i'm all for drivers believing in themselves. I dno, I just feel in the UK the media have created this hype around Hamilton and he has began to believe his own hype. It has kinda propelled him beyond his own belief in some ways. When the guys inside the car great. Love seeing what he does.
But as soon as he gets out I dno. If he won though in France woop woop! Then the mute button gets hit on Steve and Mark.

I'm only referring to a driver's motivation and not directing my comment as being a Hammy lamb.

Aye, I think I get you man, still Hamilton has this extra "baggage" upon himself if you get me?

Certainly you must have confidence in your own ability. There is, however, a difference between that and some of the trash Hamilton has been talking. I don't see much wrong with what he has said in the article posted on this thread, however.

He does have every chance to win but it's gonna b difficult. We'll see what crackers he comes out with in the build up to the race.

As for McLaren chances, I think Hamilton is in with a real shout of winning the drivers' title, even with the gaffes he makes, for Massa's talent is limited, Raikkonen is prone to going off the boil, and BMW don't have the development stamina that McLaren and Ferrari have. I get the feeling the constructors' title is ebbing away, for Kovalainen is being struck down with bad luck and Hamilton has and will make errors. Further, as a team you need to squeeze every ounce of speed from your car, and McLaren's parts moratorium and possibly the experience deficit in Hamilton and Kovalainen makes me slightly uncomfortable, especially with the season being close, BMW being there to throw a spanner in the works, and, as said, the poor luck of Kovalainen and Hamilton's odd error. That said, McLaren do have a history of pulling something out of the bag mid-season in the development stakes, even when Raikkonen at his most lazy was driving for the team, the MP4-23 is fundamentally fast, and other team's drivers are not immune from mistakes and going off the boil. As I said, Massa will run out of talent and Raikkonen is not able to compete at his very best for a whole season. I would like to see McLaren win the constructors' title this year, not just because I'm a McLaren supporter, but because I feel the team really do deserve one when you factor in politics, general bad luck etc. The team are really overdue a title.

Well, they only would 'deserve' it if they actually performed at the top level required to haul that prize. But you yourself stated that there is a lack of performance both with HK and LH for whatever reasons that may be. Thus, given those parameters McLaren is not to win the constructors title.

I agree with you on that but I'm afraid that the Mclaren is starting to focus more on delivering the WDC to Hamilton. I understand that the drivers have to do well in order to bring the constructors championship but somehow I get this feeling that the team knows that they want be able to realize that and they are shifting their attention at Hamilton. I hope I'm wrong.
