I say that because this couple of years they have been at the top of their game. But I'm starting to believe that they won't be able to take advantage of it.

Last year's spygate and Lewis/Alonso fiasco made them lose last year. As for this year, there is still hope but if things keep going this way, I don't see them winning.

What I'm afraid of that this period could be their only one for a while. So I hope they don't go around waste it.

McLaren won't win either championship this year - not with the two rather inexperienced drivers. Maybe next year with all the sweeping reg changes they stand a chance because everybody will be starting from square one.

I don't care if Lewis will win or not but I would like to see Mclaren take the trophy especially if Heikki is the one who delivers it to them.

No one gave Ferrari a chance 2 races from the end in 2007 so McLaren have just as much chance as anyone else.
Can't see why there is any doubt that they can't do it. They seem to be doing OK to me.
If you don't beleive me ask Hammy, he will tell you :wink::mrgreen:

they are abit behind in the constructors but lewis is right up there in the drivers. still plenty of races to go like you said Ferrari were worse of with 2 races to go!

It just depends on which tracks favour certain cars.

I'm thinking that you will see the following race results:

Magny Cours: BMW
Silverstone: Ferrari
Honkenheim: Ferrari
Budapest: McLaren
Europe: BMW
Belgium: McLaren
Italy: Ferrari
Singapore: Renault
Japan: McLaren
China: McLaren
Brazil: McLaren

BMW - 3
Ferrari - 3
McLaren - 5
Renault - 1

Whilst I am saying McLaren have a chance to redeem themself, BMW have secured a lot of podiums. IF BMW don't Win, then they wil come 2nd or 3rd.

Raikonen will only win a couple. Massa will win one. Mark Webber will get a podium at Valencia or Singapore. The Williams drivers might do something special. Adrian Sutil will get a 5th place at maybe Valencia?

So BMW might actually win the title.

Ferrari are starting to also become inconsistent. Mclaren aren't only slipping away - you have to remember that Ferrari are also in the same position as McLaren here.

But, Ferrari are good at bouncing back, McLaren are not. Hamilton will probably win the driver's championship. BMW will win the constructors. Heikki isn't proving himself here.

I think drivers championship:

1. Hamilton
2. Kubica -5pts
3. Raikonen -8pts
4. Heidfield - 15pts
5. Massa - 15pts
6. Alonso - 17pts
7. Who cares?

Piquet will be fired. Unfortunately.

The main point that I want to bring out is that Ferrari are in the same position as McLaren, and BMW is consistent.

What I"m also saying is that Hamilton will not get his dream car.

Any normal season Ferrari would be high and dry. However this is far from a normal season, furthermore I think when in control Kimi can't keep cool... he'd rather chase the title to the last race.

I don't think HK will be at McLaren next year. Before the 08 season I was hoping LH would be paired with an expeirenced driver and only one comes to mind. Rubens Barrichello would be worth signing for a couple of years until he retires.

Mclaren still have a good chance to win but hekki is going to have to step up and start getting podiums. If Lewis is the only point scorer then he is not going to get much of a gap on the Ferrari's without the backup of hekki and Mclaren getting some 1-2's

I think Rubens would prefer to stay at Honda. Particularly for next year, seeing as the new regulations could see them have a much improved car in relation to the other teams. We have to face fact that teams like Honda, Renault, Toyota and Force India will be starting on their 2009 cars much earlier than McLaren and Ferrari.

I don't think McLaren can take the constructors' cup this year because Heikki seems to have really bad luck. Had he not been so unfortunate in so many races, McLaren would still most likely be leading in that championship. The drivers' championship is anyone's game at the moment, and Heikki could even recover to win that, though I don't see that as being likely.

Mclaren would be much better off to develop the team with the two drivers they have rather than trying to 'patch' another driver in for a couple of seasons, they would be better off trying to get some consistancy that mclaren have lacked since the Hakkinen, Coulthard days

Every dissing my Heikki, whatever happens I will always support him whether at Mclaren or not, and I will always support Mclaren whatever happens :x

What if he takes up a career as a builder, would you support him then?
