A Replacement? ha!! Massa has been with Ferrari since 06, and hasn't scored a title, Kimi has been there a year, and won the first race, and his first title with them?

You telling me having a World Champion as a teammate, the black community on your shoulders, appearing in front of the Sporting World Council, being labeled a protege, the spats with Alonso no pressure??

Are you comparing a 2nd year driver to Micheal Schumacher?? No one since F1 was invented has come close to what Micheal has accomplished, Micheal is a legend and a great legacy. Lewis Hamilton is Lewis Hamilton, he will carve his old legacy, good or bad but it will be his own, he has no pressure to do what Micheal did because he doesn't drive for Ferrari. Ruben was compared to Micheal, Massa is under pressure to be like Micheal, Kimi was labeled the savior of Ferrari after Micheal retired, Lewis Hamilton can just be Lewis Hamilton.

Not so: he's under pressure to be Senna-esque! :P:wink::mrgreen:

Thats right. And he's shaping up well. Fastest of all quali sessions. 6 tenths faster in the 3rd one. 7 seconds ahead before the safety car- Blitzing the field! The only one who could ride the cracking tarmac and get a time and then.....a Senna-esque collision.:lol::wink:

I think Hamilton deserved it, but Rosberg?? He hit Hammy's car, and it was already damaged!! Besides he did more damage to his own car then Hamilton's. In my opinion Rosberg deserved the stop and go, but not the 10 grid spot penalty.

Yea but massa got disqualified for jumping the light last year and just cause Hamilton was there to stop him dosent meand he shouldent get punished

I agree 100% with Hamiltons penalty but Rosberg's i think is a little harsh, Hamilton was stupid as he should have seen Kimi and Kubica had stopped but Rosberg only had Hamiltons pace to go by and probably thought the pit lane was clear.

Yes but at the sane time the team should have told him the pit lane was closed. He had the same accident as Hamilton and got the same penalty.

To be honest the entire "Pit lane rules, under a safety car" need looking at.
The pit lane shouldn't be closed at all at any point, even if there are cars still coming down the pit straight, when the safety car is out all the cars are maintaing a steady pace and therefore it is a lot safer for them to exit the pit lane at this time than it would be in mid race, when the cars are flying out the pit lane at hight speed etc.
Its pathetic.

The refuelling rule I agree is stupid, but the one that helped along yesterday's events is not stupid at all. You can't pull out on to a race track from the pit lane whilst a train of closely-packed cars is moving past.

I disagree, i cant see the problem it would cuse at such a low speed, even at the faster circuits where the pit lane comes out onto the pit staright i doubt it would be a problem.

Dennis defends Hamilton after pit error
Monday, 09 June 2008 11:44

McLaren boss Ron Dennis has defended Lewis Hamilton after his calamitous pit lane accident in Canada.

The British ace had dominated the opening part of the Montreal race, only to crash out in the pit exit when he slammed into the back of Kimi Raikkonen's Ferrari, which was stopped at the red light while the safety car queue came past.

The stewards have handed Hamilton a ten place grid penalty for the French Grand Prix as a punishment for the incident.

While Dennis accepted that the penalty was justified, he said it had been a difficult situation for Hamilton - who had just dropped from first to third at his pit stop and was concentrating on Raikkonen and Robert Kubica racing side by side down the pit lane in front of him.

"No racing driver would deliberately put himself out of a grand prix, and the plain fact is that Lewis didn’t realise that the cars in front of him were coming to a halt until too late," he said.

"It’s difficult for a driver to decide whether to focus on the lights or on the cars ahead in situations like that.

"Having said that, we accept the stewards’ decision."

McLaren's CEO Martin Whitmarsh agreed with Dennis and said the team had "absolutely not" considered appealing against the stewards' verdict.

"We regard the stewards' decision as hard but fair," he said.

"Hard in the sense that it clearly makes Lewis's task more difficult in Magny-Cours, but fair on the grounds that we have no argument with their contention that he did cause an avoidable accident.

"Sometimes severe consequences can be the results of split-second misjudgments.

"And, in this instance, we'll take the loss of a likely win and the 10-place grid penalty squarely on the chin."

He said the team was already considering how to amend its strategy in France to give Lewis the best chance of recovering from the penalty.

"Without giving too much away, I suspect he'll run a little bit longer in the first stint than would otherwise have been the case," Whitmarsh said.

"We haven't modelled it yet, but intuitively that's what we'll probably do."

He also insisted that this year's McLaren would be on the pace in France - a track where Ferrari dominated last year, one that has seen five Ferrari victories in the last seven seasons, and where McLaren hasn't triumphed once, in 2000.

"At this point last year, the characteristics of our car meant Ferrari were kinder to the tyres in the race and had better high-speed corner performance than us," Whitmarsh said.

"This year, we've had better high-speed performance and we're going into two circuits - Magny-Cours and Silverstone - which should suit us."

Or....

How about forgetting Lewis Hamilton and focus on getting Heikki a good finishing position at the french Grand Prix, because he will obviously qualify ahead of Lewis!? :x

When are they going to remember their other driver?

If Heikki is second at the next grand prix, and Hamilton is third who will they focus their attention on? Heikki getting a good result to give him something in the drivers championship standings? Or will they still focus on Hamilton and getting ahead in the driver championship? Most likely the latter.

If Heikki was leading the race and Magny-Cours and Hamilton was coming 5th - who would their attention be on? Probably Hamilton. But, to be honest, and please accept my sincere apologies Hanwombat (I know she will read this), I was very disappointed with Heikki's position at the Canadian Grand Prix. Once again he has proved that he cannot finish on the podium. I don't Magny-Cours or Silverstone on the cards for Heikki, he will be josling for 7 and 8, which is not good enough of a Mclaren. Mind you, it is evidence of how good Hamilton is.

Hamilton has proved that he is better than Alonso (last year) and Heikki (this year), who are/were driving equal cars with him, so he is better than them; but - and yes McLarenites turn your heads, Raikkonen is better than Hamilton. (Victory for AKR :D ) Ignore all my posts before this race. I have come to realise certain truths about Hamilton, but he is still my favourite driver. However, Hamilton has to start performing like he is better than Raikkonen to be worthy.

I actually jumped and cheered for BMW when they got the 1-2. But I still support Mclaren.
