Kimi set the fastest lap of the race followed by Nick (full fuel) and then LH and Kubica. I personally don't think LH was any threat to Kimi or Kubica. LH was fast because he was light on fuel, he was the first one into the pits followed by Kubica and Kimi, but he was the last one out. Kimi and Robert sat at the red light for at least 2-3 seconds before LH approached them and slammed into Kimi. If there was no red light, both Kimi and Robert would have been long gone and LH would have been stuck in traffic. Overall, the top driver won the race today, don't believe me, look at the standing

i meant kimi and lewis were out, the people who win mostly, also i put massa down and heikki was down too,

LEWIS HAMILTON was labelled “stupid” by championship rival Kimi Raikkonen after he smashed into the world champion at the pit-lane red light, putting them both out of the Canadian Grand Prix.
The 23-year-old McLaren driver’s mistake came when he raced away after a fuel stop and crashed into Raikkonen’s Ferrari which had stopped at the pitlane red light.
“It was one of those things,” said Hamilton as he left Montreal. “I apologise to Kimi.”
But Raikkonen, referring to his crash a fortnight ago in Monaco, said: “If I go at 300 kilometres an hour and lose control and hit somebody it is natural.
“But if you do it in the pitlane where there is a speed limit and two cars are stopped in front of you, it is stupid.” Hamilton faced the race stewards to explain the incident and was given a 10-place grid penalty for the next grand prix in France.
But hamilton was angry about the decision. He said: “I am not happy about the penalty, but I will come back even stronger. They can throw at me what they like.”

Is Hammy for real. The self righteous PR games never end with this guy.

Lewis Hamilton has, somewhat peculiarly, confessed he apologised to Kimi Raikkonen after their race-ending crash during the Canadian GP but refused to admit he was to blame for their prang.

The accident occurred in unusual circumstances on lap 19 of the race when Hamilton's McLaren collided with Raikkonen's stationary Ferrari at the end of the pit-lane. Raikkonen, along with the BMW of Robert Kubica, was prevented from rejoining the race by a red light that Hamilton either did not see or did not see in time to avoid the collision.

"I don't know what happened," Hamilton admitted. "I saw the two guys in front of me battling in the pit lane and I was trying to make sure I didn't get involved but then they stopped. By the time I saw the red light it was too late. It's unfortunate - I've apologised to Kimi but these things happen."

Asked whether it had been a "consolation" that Hamilton's race-ending mistake also proved terminal for his closest rival in the World Championship, the Englishman replied: "Not really. I'd rather it not happened. I was breezing it - it was going to be an easy victory."

He would have lost in Monaco if it wasn't for the safety car, luck is part of F1 but the facts remained, he made a bonehead mistake, be a professional and accept your mistake without sugarcoating everything, he was "stupid" at the worse time.

I think Hamilton deserved it, but Rosberg?? He hit Hammy's car, and it was already damaged!! Besides he did more damage to his own car then Hamilton's. In my opinion Rosberg deserved the stop and go, but not the 10 grid spot penalty.

It is not because of the damage he has caused, but because of his failure to drive to conditions, if I might say so.

Guess he could have been punished a bit lighter than Lewis, but he did deserve some kind of punishment never the less.

I read on the other thread that Rosberg was penalised during today's race with a stop-go penalty. I don't recall Brundle or Allen saying anything about it. In that case, Rosberg has already been penalised and should not be punished again.

If that was so, I fully agree (haven't seen complete race yet).

yes its not a graded system based on the damage caused. they were punished for failing to stop at the red lights.

Every race Hamilton or the ITV commentators say something that makes me dislike him even more. Which is a real shame because he is so talented I wish I could like him.
However Hamilton has the arrogance of someone that has won multiple F1 championships, yet has only won a couple of races.

if kimis car wasn't there??? but it was there and hamilton did not go through red light, ergo he did not break any rules. i think because hamilton crashed into kimi and them kimi was pushed through red light he should be punished. hamiltons penalty is pure stupidity nd it shows how FIA favors ferrari and hates mclaren, everyone knows and sees that but none will speak it out loud

Except when there is a red light, you don't stop AT the red light but behind the last car already waiting at the red light. By failing to stop behind cars waiting at the red light, Lewis basically failed to stop AT the red light.

It seems logical to me, and I am McLaren fan (not Lewis fan, though). It seems very logical to everyone else, including hard-core Lewis fans. Simple fact that FIA is heavily Ferrari biased is not changing (other equally simple) fact that Lewis performed reckless error, one that can't even qualify as race incident. At the end, Kimi at least can defend his case by saying that he lost control of the car because of aquaplaning - a valid excuse Lewis hardly can go for.

I admit I'm only expressing my opinion. Its great that you don't have one. It allows you to only speak the facts.
You should be commentating for ITV.
I hope you reply to this because it adds some much to the forum when you add or
Try focusing on the racing instead of analysing other people posts. This is formula1.net not Fjuan.net
So Bud how about replying about what effect this will have on Kimi's, Hami's, Massa'a & Kubica's psychological state now that the WDC is so compressed.
I think Kimi won't be affected.
Massa will feel more in it.
Hami will be pressuring himself.
Kubica is going to now be a bigger threat as he will now have more belief in himself.
Now remember these are only my opinions.

I personaly think that Hamilton shouldn't have been penalized because everyone can make mistakes. Look at Kimi in Monaco, he also made a mistake and slammed in Sutil but wasn't penalized. And why not? Because he is driving in Ferrari and Sutil is small fish like Force India, but when McLaren takes out Kimi or Ferrari in general they need to be penalized. Even a fool could see that entire FIA and stewards are on Ferraris side.

Yes but secondo a me, that is ok.

But you never know, maybe Kimi got away with it in Monaco because he hit a Force India-Ferrari car with a full works Ferrari car. If I were Force India I wouldn't be wanting to mess around with the very people that give me my engines.
