I'm not particularly a McLaren fan, but considering they would have topped Ferrari last year by some distance in the WCC if it hadn't been for Spygate, it's wrong to say that Alonso has not had a chance in the best car. He had his opportunity last year and didn't take it.

I don't think so. McLaren CHEATED, I'll say that again incase someone didn't hear me. McLAREN CHEATED LAST YEAR and so that is why they would of had more WCC points. But cheating isn't allowed hence why it is called cheating and thus the reason why McLaren were excluded. And if they didn't cheat they wouldn't of gotten excluded but at the same time got far less WCC points than Ferrari. So Ferrari did have the best car last season unless you want to compare it against a McLaren full of Ferrari parts which would really be a McLaren-Ferrari.

alonso at ferrari would be untenable for me

Oh well at the end of the day it doesn't matter as Alonso himself wants to be at Ferrari and when regarding Alonso all that really matters is what he wants for himself. ;-)

No, Alonso wants to be in THE BEST team possible. I think he'll play safe and keep options opened as long as he can. Who can say Renault car will not outperform Ferrari in 2009, for example, and why would Alonso leave for Ferrari in 2010 if that happens? Or, if BMW improves that much and shows interest for Alonso - why would he even consider Ferrari? After all, he denied Ferrari rumours himself - which, I think, is part of his safe play.

When you think of it, among the top teams Ferrari is the one with most championships in a row, but also one with longest dry period; and their winning team with MS, Todt, Brawn has disintegrated. F1 is sport with inertia, so who is to say they will not suffer for that in the long run? Their last year success anyway was good luck as much as good performance, if not more.

Yes but winning for Ferrari is more glorious than with any other team. Ferrari is Legendary and everyone else simply just isn't. Look at Schumi, he was the best driver and in a legendary car, that has made him even far greater. I bet he wouldn't of been as popular as he is now had he achieved his majority of championship wins with a team other than Ferrari.

If the McLaren would have had a car full of Ferrari parts im sure they would have been excluded from the Championship and not just the constructers.
The "Cheaters" were punished, accordingly, and still fought on to the last day of the season.

And Ferrari were "happy" with it, and still won the Championship. No complaints about the punishment being too lenient unlike a certain other Sporting governing body (and it isn't the FIA).

It is odd 8) Whats going on! I do feel sorry for him. it seems like he's on a downward spiral and i dont think hes as bad as he's appearing to be. hats off to alonso though even if i dont like the guy.

It is odd, but I cant help but to laugh because I hate Nelson Piquet Sr.

As I've said before, I don't like Alonso, but I was sad to see him out of this race - I thought he did a really great job all weekend until his crash.

Agree. He did very well this weekend and was pretty unlucky to spin off.

Piquet Sr. was/is an arrogant.

Thats why I hate him, and the fact he always talks crap about Mansell. He brags about how his son is in F1 and how Mansell's kids are only in The Atlantic series in America. Nelson Piquet Sr. is the biggest douchebag to ever participate in F1.

I have to agree. I don't think there is a sportsman I've ever wanted to punch as much as Piquet Senior. He is a complete, utter, absolute w***er!
