McLaren have again been handed the fifth slot in the pitlane for the Canadian Grand Prix, after being moved away from the final position in Monaco two weeks ago.

The Woking-based team were relegated to the last garage in Bahrain in April after Formula One supremo Bernie Ecclestone reacted to alleged complaints from rival outfits about McLaren being situated between Williams and Red Bull Racing.

However, for unspecified reasons, in Monaco the team were moved back to the position they held for the first two races. Ecclestone even half-joked at the time that it was 'a mistake'.

Now, however, it appears that McLaren may well remain in the middle of the pitlane order for the rest of the season after keeping their fifth slot for this weekend's race in Canada.

Aye, wonder when it will be changed again...

I cant see how it is fair! McLaren finished last in the constructors champs last year, its black and white

The most pressing issue is that the FIA can't make a decision and stick to it. The sport is being dragged through the gutter with such scandalous and amateurish behaviour.

I have posted ths before, according to the FIA "rules" it is up to the FIA which slot each team has, not based on constructors position - althouhg that is how they work it

Ok. So why not put them last and leave them last? They liked being there. Ah! They liked it. Cue to move them. Or did they really like it? Were they just boxing clever to get moved back up? What a joke the FIA are!

Its unfair and patronising to the smaller teams. Its all Bernies fault. The rules are the rules and they should stay that way.

What do you mean by the rules? It's only custom that pitlane positions are decided by the previous year's championship standings. The only rule, as it were, was the FIA's decision, but they have not been able to do McLaren, the other teams, or the sport its sworn to protect any favours by amateurishly changing it every ten seconds.

Maybe the rules should be that all pit garages / facilities are up to the same standard anyway. I think that the smaller teams (who normally occupy the the rear end pits) should have equal facilities.
However, given the rules / customs as they are now, McL should be in the end garage, simply because it is unfair on the teams that have to move down one. There is just no just reason why McL should be moved, in my view. (other than the fiasco that caused all this in the first place.)
Do we think that McL would be in a stronger position now if they were in garage 2?
If the facilities were equal, I wonder then which would be considered the best garage ? (other than the status attached to being at the front).
I can see that the rear end garage could hold some tactical advantage.
Would it really make a difference?
