- 05 Jun 08, 12:14#46735Having two great drivers in one team brings many advantages, but if you can't keep them in line, you are left with hell breaking lose, as seen at McLaren between Lauda and Prost, Prost and Senna, and Hamilton and Alonso. In terms of this rumour, Kubica seems pretty chilled and Alonso's presence would motivate him to do well. Alonso, however, will be wanting to be the number one driver and will get seriously agitated when Kubica is not letting Alonso have things his own way. As was also seen at McLaren last year, unless your car is easily the fastest on all circuits, having two drivers competing in the one team allows another driver from another team to sneak up from behind and steal the title. The best thing for BMW to do would be to build the team around Kubica and employ a solid driver to partner him who is capable of getting podiums and developing the car. Could Heidfeld be the de facto number two? I'm not sure, because he is just too slow at the minute.
