With woman drivers doing well in open weel racing in the US, why has there been such a derth of female drivers in F1 and even in Gp2?
As far as im aware the last woman to enter a F1 race was 1992 and the last woman to race in F1 was in the 70's (both Italians btw).

Does anyone know of some female racers coming through the lower series or is F1 destined to be a male only sport for years to come?

A lady tested for one of the F1 teams recently (last few years) - I believe she actually crashed on her first lap out of the pits. Anyone remember who? I believe it could have been Fiona Leggett...

I dont care if women are in F1, just as long as that woman isnt Danica Patrick.

Well she's the best best at the moment. No one else im aware of on the immediate horizon

Agree. She's a poor man's Anna Kournikova, and even she wasn't that good in her chosen sport. I've no problems at all with women in motorsport, so long as they are sufficiently talented drivers.

that is why she is the best woman driver; because there is no one else!

Women in F1 would be interesting but What team owner would put a woman in the car. The culture of F1 is firmly with men drivers and until that changes women won't be in the races

'Ah I broke a Nail'
'Ah I have hat hair'

Wait that would be me :lol:

 Dont put women drivers down. they are less likely to be worried about their nails that nicco is about his hair.
sorry my post meant to say 'best bet' not 'best best'. Danica's a decent driver.

I just hate her because she acts like a spoiled brat, and makes big scenes out of little incidents. It pisses me off when she acts all tough and thinks she can pick a fight with all the drivers. If she wants to act like a man, then she better be prepared to get hit like a man.

She's in a mans world and has to show she can cope and not be intimidated. She may not really be like the person she projects.

Actually she is a b**** in person too, look on talk show's, and she's mean to her fans too. Just because she is in a man's world doesnt give herthe right to act like a spoiled brat. Just look at what she did at Indy for example, she has absolutely no class.
