Catalan driver Marc Gené crashes at 270 km/hour

Catalan driver Marc Gené has been admitted to hospital after a spectacular crash in Le Mans. He lost control of his Peugeot 908 when travelling at 270 kms/hour, with the car overturning in the air and then hitting a wall.
It happened during practice for the Le Mans 24 hour race which takes place in a fortnight’s time, and came after the driver had marked the fourth fastest time of the day.
Le Mans hospital says he is now out of danger, but will be kept in for observation as a precaution. He is likely to take part in the qualification times for the race.
