Kimi Raikkonen could be soon to retire, that’s the latest rumour doing the rounds.

Following speculation that Fernando Alonso had inked a deal with Ferrari for 2010, it is claimed by German Newspapers Rheinischen Post and TZ that current Maranello driver Kimi Raikkonen will not renew his contract beyond next year.

Rheinischen Post claims that Raikkonen told friends at a recent party that he does not intend to spend much longer as an F1 driver.

“Kimi loves the driving and hates everything else about Formula One,” one of Raikkonen’s apparent friend is quoted as telling TZ.

“The public appearances, the life under the spotlight, he doesn’t have the desire anymore,” the unnamed friend reportedly added.

Just another rumour? :?

"I have enough of this interviews and being nice to Max and ITV I think so. I just love to drive cars , I hate all the other stuff I think so" :P:wink:

I could actually see that being true. Kimi hasn't always been fond of the spotlight, though for me personally, he always seemed to smile more at Mclaren, he always looks miserable at Ferrari

You're right, I hadn't thought of that but he does definitely seem even less happy now. Before he seemed happy but 'cool' now he just seems miserable.
The Jean Todt effect maybe?

Whatever, I like Alosno better anyway. Kimi win the title this year and take a hike. Alonso is more the right fit for Ferrari as well. I like Alonso's style and attitude and he is Spanish as well which is so Italian like. :)

I must disagree because imho Kimi look's much more happier at Ferrari than when he was at McLaren. I also read or heard on SPEED, cant remember which one, that Kimi is alotted more personal time and less press and media event's as that was one of his stipulation's with Ferrari.

I would agree with this as well. He's winning races, that would count for most of his happiness I would imagine...

He said himself last year he likes life more at ferrari because he gets to be himself more there. Unlike at Mclaren where he was pushed into marketing mercedes and various brands of watches and after shaves. where as LH thrives on it...

I remember reading an article in F1 Racing magazine about Kimi. Someone from F1 Racing was having a drink with Kimi at the end of the 2006 season and he said something along the lines of he hates Formula 1 and would like to quit sooner rather than later. I actually think this new rumour is bound to be true.

He also said he was "bored" whilst chasing Hamilton in last year's Hungarian Grand Prix. Chasing Hamilton surely can't be that boring can it? (I'm sure Han prefers chasing Kovalainen though :P)

Heres a better question... how could you get bored driving a Formula 1 car?
