And he'd had 76 laps to find out where the bumps were and where the still wet bits were :P

Kimi made a misjudgment and broke on a wet patch! 4 cars infront of him managed to choose their braking point for the chicane in those conditions.

Actually if you rewatch the incident the rear of the car jumped to the left before the braking zone.

Have you considered that his 'racing line' was different than Sutil's possibly because of greater speed?

I'm not backing up Kimi because he is a Ferrari driver I just view it as a racing incident.

No I know what you mean. Lack of concentration rather than deliberate misjudgement.

No that's not what I mean. Lack of concentration? Highly doubtful as he was in 'pass mode' and when does a F1 driver have a 'deliberate' misjudgement? I know Kimi was not on his game but poo happen's in F1 that is beyond a driver's control, that's just life.

Deliberate misjudgment  Worded very badly that wasnt it! What I meant was a deliberate move such as an attempt to pass that is actually badly judged due to over ambition, conditions, track position etc etc. I didnt think this was the case with Kimi , I dont think he was making an over ambitious move to pass Adrian at that point. I think he lost concentration(away with he fairies) and forgot where the bumps and wet bits were. However if you think it was a badly judged overtaking move i 'll go with that :wink:
Hey im not getting at Kimi either. poo does happen i know.So does Adrian.

I think in this situation, Kimi was maybe being a bit over cautious. It looked like he broke earlier than Adrian, trying to avoid exactly what happened, but the wheels were unloaded and without engine braking and electronic aids, the back end lost traction.

I thought he did a hell of a job keeping it together. The talk of a penalty is just ridiculous.Vijay Mallya held no grudge either- sounds like a sensible man.

Couldn't help feeling for Sutil, but he'll get his time if he's worth it.

Now I can agree with this summation  .

Depends if you count psychological makeup as part of being a complete driver cos Alonso hasn't got that sorted. He looses it -did so last year when hamilton was so quick and did it in monaco when he became impatient.
Kimi is away with the fairies too often.

But we don't really know what the full situation at Mclaren was. Anyway...

Last yr's Mclaren was the best car on the grid. This year, is it the best, or do we not know?? Last yr. Mclaren knew they had the best car. This year, the Mclaren drivers have not been able to place the Mclaren car above Ferrari's.

As for Alonso at Monaco... well mistakes are mistakes, he will make some more as so will the rest of the guys. But keep in mind that Alonso is merely racing for the last 3 pts. at best, and yet he's pushing for podiums, which means he's taking huge risks. Also, note that I havent said Alonso is perfect, just that he is the most complete: Ability + Knowledge + Experience + Commitment to win.

Maybe I'm wrong... but I dont think so

To be honest, Alonso does have a history of losing his cool at teams before he came to McLaren. In 2006, for instance, he accused Renault of favouring Fisichella because he was leaving for McLaren.

Yeah, I think you are right. Alonso has a childish way of turning around on his team when things aren't going his way, he was even doing so earlier this yr. I guess his mom told him to stop... Whether he's right about the claims he makes or not, the way he addresses the issue is childish to say the least.

You mention this in the 'Kimi rumour' thread... and i was going to agree about it there, but decided to bring it here as the other is a Kimi thread :)

However, what I say about the Mclaren drivers not being able to SHOW the true potential of the 08 Mclaren is what I think Mclaren lost. And to have a driver who can offer this is quite helpful.

I agree. Losing Alonso was disappointing, but after what happened he had to go.
