There's Hulkenberg who is currently the Williams test driver, but I don't think he's quite ready to be thrown straight into a race seat regardless of whether it's with Williams or BMW. On this logic of Alonso going to BMW, Renault could have a totally different driver line-up if Piquet is also dropped. Renault could go patriotic and bring in Bourdais and promote Grosjean to a race seat.
I watched a lot of Hulkenberg and Grosjean in the lower formulae. Hulkenberg is very fast and can overtake, but he was prone to pushing too hard and/or making the odd mistake. Grosjean was fast, but I don't recall him doing much overtaking etc., partly because he was in a better car and thus at the front of the grid. Both are good prospects, but Hulkenberg in particular is still a raw diamond.
I think Davidson would be a better option than Sato. I'm not sure if Sato still has any ties with Honda. After Nick Fry shoved his big nose into affairs not concerning him, the ties between Sato and Honda are probably now broken.
Davidson did well. Sato was an awful driver. He was fast (but most drivers are these days), but what else?
Vettel I think will be a Red Bull man next year, sadly I think this season may be DC's last.
Mind you it's far too early to be talking about the driver market. It may be same as 07... it all hinges on Fernando.
I think Coulthard will be leaving Formula One too. There are no positions that immediately look to be coming available in teams right at the back of the grid as well. The signs from Coulthard himself don't sound positive, Webber has made it clear he wants to stay and rumours have been on the go for a while that Vettel will be in a Red Bull car next season.

Yeah thats true, and I think we should give Heidfeld a break because he only has underperformed at Monaco. Hopefully he picks up his game at Montreal.
Yeah, I mean whose to say Alonso isn't contracted at Renault in 09?
It would seem so, but from what Alonso was saying, there seems to be an escape clause of some sort or another.
