Even still, since Malaysia he has improved his form massively. Taking pole at Monaco was a surprise - the fact that he was on for a win until the safety car is a bonus. He didn't crack under pressure, which is what even I expected him to do, so good on him. If he has another good race in Montreal, I think it would be fair to say that he has definitely improved, seeing as Canada and Monaco are two races where he is expected to stuff his race up.

Yup agreed.

I noticed that. This is an alarming new trend! I won't worry too much though until I see it deployed on the end of one of my posts :lol:

It has been easier for him to reach that number, mind you.

Easier and quicker to reach, but Alonso hasn't had it for free either... he had tough competition, even from within his team, and he has not always had the best car in the grid.

I think Alonso is the most complete driver though. The best driver is Kimi, if he only had the commitment, he'd have no competition.

I didn't say that, though. Just that he wouldn't have been there quite so quick, seeing as most of his races have been on the newer points system, where as Rubens and DC were on the old system for a long period of time. I do agree that he is the most complete driver of the current grid.

Yeah you're right, Alonso is a very good "points playing driver". He really took advantage of the new system. But Rubens should have bulked his total during his Ferrari yrs... Anyway, Fernando got there in a really short time, and maybe 40% of this time he was actually in the absolute best car on the grid...

Depends if you count psychological makeup as part of being a complete driver cos Alonso hasn't got that sorted. He looses it -did so last year when hamilton was so quick and did it in monaco when he became impatient.
Kimi is away with the fairies too often.

that is certainly his weak point, team mate being decent

That's what he must have been doing when he ran into the back of Sutil.

That was not 'driver error' though  .

it wasnt? well it sure wasnt the cars fault.....

That's true also but that specific part of the track, the dip which also contributed to DC's accident, is the major contributor.
