Bottas is ahead by a comfortable margin and with the extra oil burn qually modes that Mercedes have access to it looks like an all Merc front row with ease. And with passing on these high speed circuits this season almost negligible it will be hard to see for anything but a Merc 1-2 here in Monza on Sunday.

Now the grid has three more with penalties, Vandoorne 25, Perez 5 & Grosjean 5.
Perez, even with a penalty, now starts one place further up the grid than he qualified, good for him, but.....
It is time to call a halt to the farce, as it is totally ridiculous.
Kudos to Stroll! Hope that he's nerveless & makes a great start.

At least we know that the Mercedes oil performance burn system has been perfected. A good cheat around the fuel rules but not good for the sport and is ruining the championships. Stuttgart is winning this through the back door with the FIA in their pocket as the oil burn system on their cars is giving them a min of 3 tenths to 5 tenths per lap in the race over the others and more than that in qually. A shame really that it has to be this way.

Excellent drive by Ricciardo, too bad he was forced to start so far back with the engine penalties he might have had a good chance of winning today just with his good setup and his pure driving skills. The engine penalties are very costly and will start to hit the top two teams soon. Merc having been so eager to keep their oil burn system has taken their final engine very early, this may cost them more in penalties than Ferrari by the end of the season.

Oh, it's not cheating, if it benefits Mercedes, now is it??

The irony of this is that all those fans are the ones who were bitching,
complaining and razzing Ferrari when they were the team to beat.

And, yes, I admit to a sour-grapes syndrome...

Just wondering - if the World Drivers Championship for Formula One involves the performance of the drivers, and the World Championship for constructors involves constructors. Why are the drivers penalised grid places for the shortfall occasioned by their constructor? Instead of penalising the driver couldn't the constructor have points deducted? After all it is not the drivers fault it is? We are talking of two separate competitions here. Just a thought!

In effect, penalizing the driver also penalizes the Constructor, since the Constructor also gets points based on where the driver finishes. Also, I would imagine that if a part needs replacing, the FIA is assuming that the driver had some culpability in that?

Just my two cents!! :wavey:
