Looks like Mercedes has gone to their FIA buds. Todt is going to review to see if a stiffer penalty is required!

http://www.gpupdate.net/en/f1-news/3551 ... ton-clash/

"Following the recent incident at the Azerbaijan Grand Prix in which Car 5 (Sebastian Vettel) was involved in a collision with Car 44 (Lewis Hamilton), on Monday July 3, the FIA will further examine the causes on the incident in order to evaluate whether further action is necessary," read a brief statement.

"A statement regarding the outcome will be made available before the Austrian Grand Prix."

Just let them settle it on track Todt, it's what the fans want to see. Let'em race!

Punishment could range from:

1. Being in one of Lewis's snapchat videos - likely with rabbit ears
2. Being forced to tame and then attach a bird of prey to his helmet for the next three races
3. The removal of his 'eye of the tiger' pre-qualifying soundtrack (he actually has this!)
4. Having to conduct qualifying whilst undergoing gender reassignment surgery
5. Having to wear Rosberg's sweaty helmet - although that might give someone flashbacks...

All this should be very interesting... :bs:

^Isn't that Hamilton's secret bucket list?

I think any further punishment would set a bad precedent, Vettel was, in my view, fairly punished during the race, no further action needed.

What Vettel did was stupid and you could argue dangerous given the proximity of the barriers, but some people are blowing it out of all proportion, it was a moment of madness, that's all!

Is that confirmed or is it just your biased speculation?

if a driver at racing speed forces another driver off track he would get less punishment than a 10sec drive through

What Vettel did was silly but he's been punished. Move on

Button and Brawn's assessments of this are spot on. He's not the first driver to loose it during a moment of madness / red mist and he won't be the last.

His only mistake was being German, not being called Max Verstappen, driving a Ferrari and hitting a Mercedes which happened to be occupied by Saint Sir Lewis of Hamilton GBE, KBE, DBE, CBE, OBE, MBE etc etc. If it wasn't for that he'd have been in the clear. So close, dammit, so close.....

Just let them settle it on track Todt, it's what the fans want to see. Let'em race!

People moan when the sport is boring with no excitement or passion, now they moan when there is a bit of excitement and passion shown. This is the sort of stuff I want to see! Ok, I don't want to see horrendous life endangering crashes but a bit of paint swapping and wheel banging is more than welcome. Bloody fifthly casuals! :bs: I'd love to see a field of Vettel-esque drivers loosing their s*** than a field of Hamilton-esque manicured media darlings any day!

There's is a hearing on the 3rd of July (I think). Most incidents are settled during the race bit not this relatively minor one. Not seen anything saying that Mercedes have gone to the FiA but seems a bit fishy to me.

Likely the FiA just want to make an example of Vettel, the same as they used to do to Schumacher every time he broke wind.

As clearly indicated by 'looks like' It is just based on my observations.

It is easy to see that FIA is Merc's lap dog going back many years now. I am sure you remember the impartial FIA International Tribunal assembled by Todt to rule on the Merc secret, illegal, 3 day, 1000km, in-season private test session bagging Merc 3 wins and sorting their tire problems in which they let Merc suggest their own non penalty and then adopted it. Also the development of the new FIA V6 turbo regs followed the Merc recommendations (with the engine already in design) to the FIA token rules which protected the Merc engine advantage guaranteeing 3 wcc/wdc's and now the continued blind FIA eye on the Merc oil burning performance modes.

Merc going to the FIA to have more punishment brought on Vettel is not hard to see.

But it is just an observation really.

Isn't it convenient that "we" seem to have forgotten the number of times Hamilton bumped wheels with Massa, just a few short years ago!!

I never knew that about Hamilton, I always thought that was whilst racing but never knew he did that behind a safety car. Was Massa the lead car as well??? Wow!

Sarcasm duly noted!

Lol, really? That's how you think? It must be a nightmare for you watching the news, all those non stories that are neither confirmed or denied.

Opinions are just that... opinions!
They can be based on facts (such as legal, medical opinions)
or they can be based on emotions. Both are legitimate.
