I don't think that being let down by yet another Honda engine (at Indy) will make McLaren Honda seem any more attractive to Alonso in 2018.

Also at the point where he left the race Alonso had the fastest average speed of any driver in the race.

I still think that a switch to stateside could be on the cards for Alonso, doesn't look like McLaren Honda will be able to offer him a race winning car in the next 12 - 24 months.
