Engine performance convergence

FIA tests reveal Mercedes, Ferrari and Renault engines have converged to within 0.3s a lap

So they say

So... the "only" variable are the drivers? :confused:
I would imagine you'd also have to factor in how the
car/engine/etc reacts in different temperatures...
and, of course, the pit wall... no??

I would say that Mercedes and Ferrari are within that 0.3 of a second, the evidence on race day seems to suggest that Renault are further behind and Honda are not even in the same zip code of Ferrari and Mercedes.
