Bladesman, it was a drying and quickly improving track so 'going purple' becomes a poor indicator, that's why they looked at the data to see Rosberg lifting.

Merc was correct in calling out Hamilton as he has no right to go behind their back to Whiting and possibly mess up a Merc one-two grid start. He doesn't run the team nor does he have the same interests.

I think most of us questioned the pole lap, setting a purple sector where the double yellows were should raise eyebrows; however OB's post was talking about Mercedes reaction to their drivers actions, not an attack on Hamilton himself from what I have read; in most jobs if you go over your immediate boss' head, there are repercussions.

Going over your direct supervisor's head creates an atmosphere of mistrust and disrespect.
