(GMM) Workers at Ferrari's formula one factory in Italy have been told to keep working despite an outbreak of the infectious disease tuberculosis.
The British newspaper The Sun reports that a staff member was rushed to hospital and diagnosed with TB, a common and deadly disease that - if untreated - kills up to half of its victims.
The Sun said the staff member was a carbon fibre specialist, and Ferrari confirmed that he has a "mild form" of tuberculosis.
It is reported that the 25 technicians whose job it is to build Kimi Raikkonen and Felipe Massa's cars for each grand prix are currently undergoing blood tests to see if they have also been infected.
Ferrari said Raikkonen and Massa will not need tests.
"We're not happy," a British employee is quoted as saying from Maranello.
"We think the lab should be shut down until we get an all-clear. It feels as if Ferrari are putting cars before people.

At least Ferrari have there priorities right

the drivers will both need test if someone with TB has been touching the car

they would only need tests if they had any contact with the workers in the factory

Such as hugging, kissing, and....

Nah, let's not go there.
Celebrating victories of which there have been plenty.

Biological warfare.

The risk of the employees catching something is probably pretty slim, and, if they did catch something, Ferrari have the cash to pay for their compensation claims. Indeed, their employees suing them is preferable to the cars' development and production slowing down. Still, if Ferrari did decide to put their employees' rights first, I would not be complaining.

I wonder if Stepney's "white powder" from this time last year has anything to do with it?

In Italy if someone dies they start charging people with murder, so I'd have thought Ferrari would be more cautious than this.

One case hardly constitutes a headline. If the results came back and some more people had it, then Ferrari would be in trouble.
