because no one is crap in F1.

RS.

Yuji Ide, Christijan Albers and Patrick Friesacher come up as the latest flops in the past few years in my book.

So how many people here have a super license?
I know Ide lost his, but as far as im concerned anyone to have a super license is a awsome driver.

I'm sure RS counterfeited his

I agree that nobody can do a Hamilton every year, after all, Hamilton was supremely well prepared by McLaren. .
better prepared mentally by the team maybe? Piquet has had more tests more hours in an F1 car compared to Hamilton before they got a race seat so in effect Piquet should have been better prepared come his call up to full race driver shouldnt he?
#43761
Piquet is in his first season and already people are picking on him. His position shouldn't be under any threat until he completes at least one season but no doubt he should be getting more out of the car than he is right now.

Just cause you have a license doesn't mean you can drive well. Look at all the idiots on the road that "passed the test".

I feel sorry for him there must be so much presure. Since Hamilton everyone expects there new driver to be at the top of there game in the 1st couple of races. He is obviuoly good because no one is crap in F1. I think he just needs just a little more time to improve.

I agree that nobody can do a Hamilton every year, after all, Hamilton was supremely well prepared by McLaren. You do expect to see some indication of talent or potential, and that has not once been seen. Kovalainen, for instance, made some chicken-ups in the early part of last season, but was at least able to show he was fast, looked after the tyres well, etc.; it was only silly mistakes that were costing him. Piquet seems to be lacking in pure speed let alone the other stuff! There's no point in changing drivers yet, and he still should be given time, but if things continue in this vain much beyond the halfway mark, his position will start to become untenable.

I actually think Heikki has more raw speed then Hamilton. True, he hasn't got the McLaren corporate implant like Hamilton but he's shown flashes of brilliance and will be very strong next season.

I don't like Hamilton's 'my sh!t don't stink' attitude, I want Heikki to own him and Button to resurge as the UK's No. 1 driver, a very likely occurence with Ross Brawn now at Honda...

I don't like Hamilton's 'my sh!t don't stink' attitude,

welcome to Forumula1.com's Manure minute with your host DEMURE
you had no issues with Schumis my s*** dont stink attitude

the real issues lies in the team Hamilton drives for not with him... you and mike alike for if he was driving for Ferrari you would have nothing but praise!

Again you drag Schumacher into these arguments, he must have scarred you for life spud, Schumacher wasn't so god damn cheesy...

Heh, everything is so black and white with you spud, haven't you noticed yet I follow drivers and not teams? I just pay out on McLaren so much because it's so easy to, they walk around baiting all our hooks for us, I can't resist...

na i find it funny you criticise an attitude in one hand but on the other praise it with all your hearts content.

If you only follow a driver and not a team well why do you dislike teams? if you dislike a team surely that would accentuate that you like a team. that team being RED. Also if you only followed drivers your favourite is off riding two wheels for fun in his retirement so who is your new driver? if you dont have one why do you follow F1 if its not for a team nor for a driver then for what?

Piquet out, Sato in at Renault?
http://www.crash.net/motorsport/f1/news/163417-0/piquet_out_sato_in_at_renault.html

Paddock speculation has hinted that Nelsinho Piquet's days at Renault are looking increasingly numbered, but the bigger surprise is the identity of one of the drivers tipped as a possible replacement for the underperforming Brazilian – Takuma Sato.

Piquet has endured a highly disappointing start to his Formula 1 career and French magazine AutoHebdo – considered something of an authority within grand prix circles – has suggested the Régie is considering holding a shoot-out test early this summer to replace him. Top of the list for that shoot-out are said to be team test-driver Romain Grosjean – the inaugural GP2 Asia Series Champion and a man blazing a notable trail in F1's feeder series – and Sato.

The Japanese star has not sat in a racing car since the demise of Super Aguri earlier this month, with his last racing appearance the Spanish Grand Prix – a race in which he somewhat ironically achieved the ailing Leafield-based concern's highest finish of the campaign in 13th place.

Rumours were also swirling around in Istanbul last weekend that the 31-year-old might return to replace veteran Rubens Barrichello – who broke Riccardo Patrese's long-standing record for number of grand prix starts in Turkey and whose contract is set to expire at the end of the current campaign – at the works Honda outfit in 2009.

Sato previously drove for Honda in 2004 and 2005, achieving the maiden rostrum finish of his F1 career at Indianapolis in 2004 en route to eighth position in the final drivers' standings. He was dropped at the end of the following year, however, having garnered just a sole point compared with team-mate Jenson Button's 37.

At this moment in time I don't think Grosjean would do any better than Piquet currently is.

"Since Hamilton"? That was last year! It's not like there's been enough time to set a precedent!

Anyway, noone expected Piquet to be fighting for WDCs or even beating Alonso, people just weren't expecting him to be so consistently at the back of the mid-field or worse.

For an F1 driver, he's astoundingly mediocre

Hamilton was on fire to start with when all the other new drivers take a while to find there pace. Hamiltons 1st race he was only a little bit behind and close the gap to FA with the nexy couple of races were if you look to others Kovalinen was always a couple of posistions down the grid to fisi but caught up late in the year. Glock has been doing well and now setling in to the toyota but hamilton setled in within the 1st race.

In Kovy and Glock's defense, last year's McLaren is the F1 car equivalent of a leather recliner.
