Despite very little use (being a Father put pay to this hobby too) my PlayStation 4 controller joystick covering fell off and the R1 button broke (or at least a little plastic leg which clips into the gubbins inside did).

Annoyed and unwilling to pay out for another controller I found replacements on Amazon for a total of about £6.
