The bottom line of this folks is that LH said this in public. Can you imagine Micky Schumacher saying anything like this? - no chance - it was a contractual condition that he was number one driver.
LH is making a fair point, and few drivers would have the guts to say this, if they thought that they were the best driver.
A refreshing bit of honesty by LH I think , and great that, as a McL team member , he is able to say things like this. Other teams, Ferrari in particular, hold a very tight reign on what drivers can and cannot say.
In my view, LH behaves like a true sportsman, he competes hard, he acknowledges how good his opponents (teams and drivers) are and he has a sense of fairness that very few other drivers or teams have.
When he is world champ, and he will be one day, he will bring some dignity to the sport, sadly missing with MS & FA.

I agree with you about Alonso, but not Schumacher and Hamilton. As much as I don't agree with some of what Schumacher did, I have a lot of respect for him, because he never complained when somebody did the same things to him, and he never bashed the team publicly or without reason. Hamilton has done this on several occasions over this season and last. To be honest, Hamilton and his army of fans are really starting to annoy me. They refuse to acknowledge the facts about his career thus far and choose to be blind to his numerous wrongs. As far as I'm concerned, and I'll say it again, Formula One is a team sport; a driver is a very small part of a very big equation; nobody is above the team. Moreover, the likes of Senna and Hakkinen raced under precisely the same policy as McLaren have in place at the moment. If it's good enough for drivers of their calibre, it's damn well good enough for Hamilton.

Hamilton experienced being told to hold stations last year in Monaco and made this comment in hope that Heikki doesnt have to go through what he did last year.
Pretty simple if you take away your hate for the guy thats all there is to it.

My personal opinion is that LH is not talented. Now compared to the average guy, you have to be talented to be in F1. But compared to the rest of the field, I guess he's average.

he beat Alonso fair and square on many occasions so i guess that makes him average aswell? think you have just earned the dummest post of the season so far!

factman, change your name to fool man, its more fitting!

Let me clarify a few points in here.

1- Bud, when I said I'm a fool I was being sarcastic

2- When Bud or Racechick try to push their opinions on others, that is OK but not the other way around.

3- I'm more of a driver fan but as far as teams are concerned for the longest time I was a McLaren fan. I was excited at the beginning of 07 by Alonso and Hamilton being at ML. But later in the year I started reading the annoying comments posted by what I've come to call "Fanatic McLaren/Hamilton Fans". Since that time I started to change my opinion. I have nothing against Hamilton as a person but I've become sick and tired of the bulls**t and arrogance that some people have shown (Bud, racechick, Lewisfan...).

4- I never liked Ferrari in F1 but, unfortunately, I've seen myself many times this year cheering for them instead of ML. As long as LH loses I'm happy. That's how annoying some people have been on this forum.

5- On another thread, Bud asked AKR to shut up. That's the kind of behaviour that is unacceptable and adding a smily face to the end of a sentence doesn't make it OK. Whether I think that LH is TALENTED or not is nobody's business. You can show me all the stats that you want but if I don't want to believe it, that's my right. Calling me or others names is not the right way to approach it.

6- I never called anyone names unless I was provoked first.

7- So as long as I still see the bulsh**t and arrogance that we witness almost on a daily basis that's what you will expect from me. Maybe this way some people will learn their lesson. You cannot just go around calling people names and telling them to shut up because you don't like what they say about your favorite driver or team.

8- I believe that as long as your comment is about the driver/team you can say whatever you want. I should be able to call Hamilton (not that I would do it) anything I want. Your reply should be related to my post and not attacking me personnally.

9- As far as LH is concerned, once he wins at least 1 WDC then can people tell me that he is great.

10- We all know that if HK didn't have the 2 incidents in the past 2 races, he will be ahead of Hamilton and he's new at ML. Hamilton was responsible for his mistake when he pressed the wrong button.

You have changed my opinion about you. Just wanted to say that not all of us are arrogant, and I respect your opinion. I know what you mean that you are tired of people's arrogance, but to be honest this forum is heaven compared to a lot of other Formula 1 forums that I've been on briefly (I left because it was that bad). The best thing to do is just dont let it bother you because wherever you go, there will always be arseholes and douchebags. So if I've ever offended you, I apologize.

Not liking someone does not mean he is hated. There is a huge ocean of gray shades between.

I didn't hate Schumacher even if he took out Hill and tried the same with Villeneuve - both drivers I was supporting at the time. I definitely didn't like him for that, but hate is very personal feeling I might have for people who really managed to hurt people I love.

So I definitely don't hate LH, even if I don't like him much. I only think that, between moments of great (and not so great) driving, he is managing to squeeze moments of being prepotent brat. There is no point of saying anything like that - except drawing attention to himself and advertising himself as team leader (of a sort). It is pretty much same bull*hit as saying that he was asked to do anything to make Alonso feel at home (not the point that he was asked or not, but going public with that).

Decision about not overtaking on track is team decision, and comes to Monaco, it is also right decision. I really hope McLaren will not give up on it just because LH thinks they should - or is advised by his PR manager.

I wasn't mad at you  but I appreciate your input and honesty. There are other people in here whom I can't stand anymore. They have to inject Hamilton into everything.

It's Hamilton this, Hamilton that  I joke when I say he's not talented. I only say it to annoy them.

Peace

The thing is that these Hammy munskins have no sense of humour at all and stick up for him like he is a family member.
Now that is what I find very sad, I think

Totally agree with you. When we criticize the driver or the team, people shouldn't take it on a personal level.
#43760
that has been out in the open for ages, what are you trying to say? or should i say stirr?

They told their drivers to hold stations after the pitstops. smart thing to do in Monaco last season when both your cars are 1 minute ahead of P3

i mean i thought that McLaren favoured Lewis isnt that what Alonso fans say? not Alonso like youre trying to point out

There have always been team orders at McLaren, always will be, they are just marketing themselves differently.

Like they should have marketed the 2007 car as a Ferrari
