ESPNF1:

Pierre Gasly says there is very little difference in performance between the Toro Rosso and Red Bull after testing the two cars back to back this week in Barcelona.

The Red Bull junior clocked a 1:27.639 in the Toro Rosso using the medium compound tyres on Tuesday and a 1:26.683 in the Red Bull using soft tyres on Wednesday. Red Bull has found itself under pressure from Toro Rosso this year, despite having a significantly bigger budget, and was outqualified by the junior team at the Spanish Grand Prix last weekend. As the only driver to get behind the wheel of both Renault-powered cars, Gasly is in an unique position to compare them.

"To be honest, the difference is really small," he said. "In terms of lap time it is pretty much the same. So there were some small differences but also the conditions were a bit different to yesterday - the wind was not in the same way. So we need to check the data further to understand a bit why the balance was like that, but overall today I felt a bit better in the car.

Gasly said he improved more on the second day than the car underneath him.

"I also had a bit more experience and knew a bit better what to do. I improved my lap time, my driving and also my feeling in the car. Overall I felt better, so I am pretty happy about it, and about the balance of the car, I would say it is very similar between the two cars."

Help this rookie understand what the "Scuderia" in front of the "Toro Rossi" means?

Scuderia is Italian for stable, so a team.

Thanks, Double D
But, Ferrari's nickname is Scuderia, isn't it? This is all very confusing.

Not really a nickname me thinks, it's part of their actual name, which is Scuderia Ferrari. And for Italians and other tifosi, there's only really one Scuderia, so the name often gets shortened

Red Bull is Austrian. Their owner Mateschitz (the owner of the Red Bull drinks company) also bought the Minardi team which was based in Faenza, Italy. And it still is and he re-named it Scuderia Toro Rosso, basically the Red Bull B-team or junior team.
The Swiss team is Sauber.
