Nelson Piquet, Formula One, RenaultNelson Piquet has been told he must improve his results as quickly as possible if he is to stave off question marks about his future in Formula One.

The Brazilian has had a difficult start to the 2008 campaign and, in particular, has struggled to make an impact in the past two races.

And after slumping to 17th in qualifying for the Turkish Grand Prix, Renault's sporting director Steve Nielsen has said it is vital Piquet turns his season around - just as Heikki Kovalainen did last year.

"Well, it is obviously his first season in F1," said Nielsen in Renault's official podcast. "We saw last year with Heikki, he had a difficult start to the season and then he was able to turn it around and I think Nelson has to do the same.

"Nelson had a good race in Barcelona, unfortunately he made a mistake, but the Friday, (and) Saturday in qualifying, certainly, he did an excellent job and then made a mistake in the race.

"So I think rather than say he's had a disastrous start to the season, it's a bit of a curate's egg – there are good bits and bad bits.

"But he needs to start having more good bits than the bad bits, and he needs to start doing that as soon as he can because F1 is a business, it's a very cut-throat business, and if people don't deliver they go the obvious way."

He added: "But I'm sure Nelson can turn it around. We have seen in testing and in Barcelona he has got the speed, he just needs to concentrate and focus and make sure he turns it into results."

If Piquet doesn't improve, Flavio will probably transfer him to QPR over the summer. And then if he's naff at Football he'll end up running the turnstiles on match day, or even be a ball-boy.

I feel sorry for him there must be so much presure. Since Hamilton everyone expects there new driver to be at the top of there game in the 1st couple of races. He is obviuoly good because no one is crap in F1. I think he just needs just a little more time to improve.

because no one is crap in F1.

RS.

Yuji Ide, Christijan Albers and Patrick Friesacher come up as the latest flops in the past few years in my book.

I agree that nobody can do a Hamilton every year, after all, Hamilton was supremely well prepared by McLaren. You do expect to see some indication of talent or potential, and that has not once been seen. Kovalainen, for instance, made some cock-ups in the early part of last season, but was at least able to show he was fast, looked after the tyres well, etc.; it was only silly mistakes that were costing him. Piquet seems to be lacking in pure speed let alone the other stuff! There's no point in changing drivers yet, and he still should be given time, but if things continue in this vain much beyond the halfway mark, his position will start to become untenable.

So how many people here have a super license?
I know Ide lost his, but as far as im concerned anyone to have a super license is a awsome driver.
