I don't think Kimi had damage at all to be honest.

On the on board shots later in the race you couldn't see the front wing moving around, it wasn't cracked, no pieces came off it. I think he may have been making excuses in the light of being cut off by Heikki at the start. A lot of people are saying Heikki would have won if it wasn't for that.

He said a sideboard of the wing was missing.

Maybe so but it can't have been noticeable. He did a good job with or without damage.

In response to the OP, Schumacher did this with 4 stops at France in 2004

That was great driving but he had such a better car than everyone else it was unreal.

Ah but the question remains, could anyone else have done it?

I think not...

In many respects nobody else deserved it. Schumacher's committment in testing and his constant nagging for new parts to the car meant that car was very much his own. He was a team leader at Ferrari as well as a good driver.

And no, plenty couldn't have done it in that car, there have been era's with other teams where the car has been strong, nobody dominated like Schumacher did.

Very true as Coulthard, Berger, Montoya or Kimi never achieved what was expected of them at McLaren. It's a very touchy subject to say the least yet that's what weed's out the true champion's from the rest of the driver's.

its easy to dominate in the dominant car when your team mate isnt up to the dominant drivers abilities

Unlike for example Senna, Schumacher never had to contend with a world champion team mate in his peak in a a title fight.

and i say again, plenty could have in that car ;)

The car was tailored to MS's particular driving style. That's why he dominated and that's why his number two drivers were rarely able to challenge him and nobody else could have done what he did in that car.

Lewis sited this as his best race ever. The most he hoped for at the beginning (because of the 3 stop strategy he had to take)was 5th. He drove the wheels off that car. Luck!! Don't make me laugh! The lucky one was Massa -lucky that Lewis had to take 3 stops!!

Luck, defenitly. Hamilton is no Schumi. If he was he would of won on a 3 stopper just like Schumi did in Hungary 1998. A good race Hamilton did but defenitly lucky. If Kimi and Kova didn't have an early run in, they both would of finished ahead of Hamilton thereby relegating him to 4th. Either way Anna (Is that your real name Racechick?) you had the honour of having a drink at my expense after Ferrari's dismal Melbourne GP and Hamilton's win back then, I've now had the pleasure of having drinks on 4 different occasions at your expense since then. ;-):D
