80 million dollars a year for Vettel was it?

Forbes was the one reporting 150 million pound sterling over three years. I mean no one throws money away in the sport like Ferrari, and Lewis is not driving for them. The most he'll be able to squeeze out of them is something considerably more than what they're giving Rosberg plus a scaled bonus for wins and a championship. Lewis' big money comes from outside the sport. The contracts where he can get paid for his star power.
Apparently something he was locked out of at McLaren but has room to negotiate in at Mercedes.

Lewis earns a small amount (relatively speaking!) in endorsements about $1.5M as compared to his $32M F1 salary. He just isn't that much in demand as compared to many racing drivers/athletes etc. In racing popular drivers such as Rossi pulls in $10M in endorsements, Danica $9M (1.5x her salary!), Stewart $6M, Alonso $3M etc.
The £68m fortune he was estimated to possess earlier this year is still dwarfed by that of the now-retired David Beckham, who along with wife Victoria is said to be worth £210m.
But sponsorship and branding expert Nigel Currie, of brandRapport, predicts Hamilton will comfortably surpass the former footballer's personal wealth and may even threaten that of the combined 'Brand Beckham'.
"I would definitely say he's going to be Britain's highest-paid sportsman ever," Currie told Telegraph Sport.

2012 Total earnings: $28 million
Salary/winnings: $25 million
Endorsements: $3 million
Hamilton is a free agent after the 2012 F1 season. He is expected to have many suitors as Hamilton is one of F1’s most talented and marketable drivers. His current team, McLaren, controls almost all of the sponsorship rights to Hamilton, but he was able to ink a lucrative deal with Reebok in 2008 to be a global ambassador for the brand. It is his only personal endorsement deal.

"He's in pole position to do that, if you excuse the pun."
Currie points out that if Hamilton marries girlfriend Nicole Scherzinger, the couple's combined earning potential could eventually challenge that of the Beckhams.
"They'd be a highly-marketable couple in their own right," he added.
Hamilton, whose personal endorsements currently net him just £1.9m per year from Bombardier and IWC Schaffhausen, joined Mercedes from McLaren partly because they promised him more freedom to negotiate such deals outside of restrictive team-only contracts.
haha, you got your cursory google search in before me WB
its amazing that these vaseline boycotters are so eager to convince themselves that they are too scared to do even a cursory 1 minute Google search for fear of having their deep rooted 'beliefs' challenged
there is an art to consistent losing without changing approach, these are the type of chaps you want to play cards against

We dont know this yet, apart from Danica, those other drivers etc earn that amount for having been champions or sexy girls. We have to wait to see what he pulled in 2015 (this year) as WDC to compare. I read somewhere that he pulls in much more than your figure of less than 1 mill Sterling for all the names we see on his clothing. But ofcourse you have some proof of that number that you will post. So leaving aside things like Nascar, this leaves Alonso from F1 that you claim is indicative of the lack of demand for Lewis by raking in double of this magic 1.5$mill. Niow I also heard that Alonso was bankrolled by Santander, but I guess this doesnt count?
Maldo brings between 20 and 30 mill to his team and ofcourse gets his wage paid as well, which is ofcourse personal sponsorship and endorsement.
So OB, when you are ready, please demonstrate how Maldo is around 30x more in demand than Lewis, and demonstrate how much the WDC gets out of the Monster deal alone for example
