Not good at all. So he had some level of cocaine in his system whilst driving the car. I'd be interested to learn what the levels were. Bloody idiot could have killed somebody, hope he's given a lengthy ban.

Isn't the drug test taken at random times and not pre/post race? I am sure I remember Ant Davidson saying the drug team turned up at his house at 3am to take a sample before

He's quoted as saying 'after the event the guy who does the testing signalled for him to come over' - which indicates pretty strongly that it was in his system during the event itself...

Ah OK fair one :-)

I've double checked a couple of articles, as I know a lot could have been lost in translation, but it does seem like the test was immediately following the race. If true, that is so irresponsible it's ridiculous for a racing driver.

How long can it remain in your blood stream?

For cocaine, a general drug test would show it up if it was taken between immediately prior to the test up to around 3-5 days before the test. More specialist tests analysing metabolites, possibly up to 2-3 weeks. This is why I would like to see the testers release info on what type of test was used and what the levels were, as it would be very significant.

Either way I would imagine it is it is career ending.

Think how one small incident destroyed Tomas Scheckter's F1 career.

Coke effects last about 20-30 minutes depending on number of drags you take. I wonder if it could actually give an advantage in a racing car except heightened senses and energy....oh wait.

They should test the cruise and collect drivers for smoking weed DURING the races :hehe:

If I wanted to cheat I'd think crystal meth would be the most effective for racing.

I just watched half a race for the first time....I think it was a rerun. But I must say, it looks painfully slow on TV.What's their top speed, like 150km/h at most?

They could be the future but the speed badly need to increase. The drivers don't even look like they're working hard at the wheel with those speeds. Good racing to watch but I felt it was on slowmo.

Maximum speeds can reach 225 kph with 0-100 in 2.9 secs. The reason it looks slow is because it's silent, or a very different noise to what you associate with speed and the brain can't adjust.
