Two dogs are running on the track during the GP2 race. Senna just hit one and the safety car is now out :shock: Hope dogs are gone for the F1.

No But very angry! He could so easily have been hurt! He was going well and in the points. His car front and one wheel was smashed (as was the dog)

Montreal also have an animal problem

Not to mention the one that Anthony Davidson hit in 2007. Costing him 3rd place in the process.

The dog today no doubt cost Senna a couple of points. He had such bad luck this weekend. He was pretty much the fastest guy in both races, but in the first someone knocked off his front wing, and then his sprint race was ended when he hit the animal.

I remember Eddie Irvine ran over a fox during qualifying at Silverstone in 1997.

I'm happy it showed the replay of Senna's incident so we knew what happened, but i'm also happy that it did a freeze frame before we saw anything nasty.

FIA to investigate Turkey security

By Jonathan Noble Sunday, May 11th 2008, 11:52 GMT

Formula One race director Charlie Whiting is to submit a report to the FIA about track security at the Turkish Grand Prix following the dog incident that marred the GP2 sprint race on Sunday morning.

Bruno Senna was forced out of the race while in a strong sixth place when he hit a stray dog that had run onto the circuit. The incident ripped off his front wing and right front suspension, and he was lucky not to suffer a more serious accident.

With a second dog on the track prompting the safety car to be called out, Whiting ordered a increase of security measures ahead of this afternoon's Formula One race to ensure there was no repeat incident.

In a statement issued by the FIA shortly before the start of the Istanbul event, Whiting said: "Following a breach of Article 30.16 of the 2008 GP2 Sporting Regulations, which involved dogs on the track during the GP2 Race 2 today, I have formally reminded the Clerk of the Course and the organiser of their responsibilities, and how seriously the FIA view this incident.

"As a result I have given instructions that all external gates to the circuit must be checked and secured, that prior to the F1 race this afternoon the appropriate authorities will check all parts of the circuit to remove any other animals. Finally all internal access points to the track will be closed and monitored during the F1 race.

"Finally, given the seriousness of the matter a formal report will be submitted to the FIA."

Article 30.16 of the GP2 Sporting Regulations is understood to state: "Animals, except those which may have been expressly authorised by the FIA for use by security services, are forbidden on the track, in the pit lane, in the paddock or in any spectator area."

Actually security is very tight at Istanbul. There are lots of soldiers and you get searched everytime you go in and out of your grandstand, but those measures are for terrorists not dogs. I heard they were tranquilising all stray dogs in the vacinity after the incident but given the amount of soldiers around with guns i wonder if they really were tranquilising them or just shooting them?

Someone on YouTube seems to think Senna is to be blamed for 'killing a poor innocent dog' They didn't give a damn that Senna could have been killed if it had hit the front wing and gone over the monocoque.

can you give me the link? I like cursing out stupid environmentalists, I always honk at them and flip them off when they're protesting outside a race.

A deer that wandered from nearby woods onto the race track at the Oesterreichring race course in Zeltweg, Austria, during practice runs yesterday for the Austrian Grand Prix tomorrow was struck head-on and killed by a Formula One car driven by Stefan Johansson of Sweden. Although the car burst into flames and repeatedly hit the barrier while skidding down the track after the accident, the driver of the McLaren-TAG racer was not injured.

''The deer was walking around there for 10 minutes and no yellow flag went up,'' Johansson said afterward. ''They should have stopped practice.'' Johansson, using a backup car for his official qualifying attempt, placed 14th with a speed of 145.342 miles an hour. Nelson Piquet of Brazil was first with an average speed of 159.457 m.p.h.
