And the delay is everyone seeing if Ron can buy more of the team back so he gets more of a vote.

Ron and Mansour hold 50% between them. They also have a mandated agreement to always vote together, therefore the possibilities on that front are deadlock between Ron/Mansour vs Bharainis. Or between Bharainis + Ron or Mansour vs Mansour or Ron.
We know that the Bharainis and Mansour backed Twitrash for a while, we know that Mansour transferred his vote to his brother and that Ron was able to remove Whetcrack. We also know that Ron has an option with a deadline to buy out Mansour/Bharainis 26% at least to bring him back in sole control.

Therefore the delay would have to be along the lines of Bharaini/Mansour dont want Alonso or want Button and Honda and Ron want Alonso and/or dont want Button. And Ron is confident that with 51% plus Honda he is ready for the future and so must do what Honda want and not what the others want, hence the rollover of his option strike date

So if Ron gets his 51% Alonso and Mags/Stoiffel/JEV are in and Honda is happy, and Mclaren are great again.

Or Ron doesnt get 51% and the Bharainis/Mansour replace him again as CEO and Honda lose works team interest after 2015 with Button replicate the glory years of their last outing in F1. The interesting thing is if the deadlock is simply Ron being clever in riding this out till the beginning of next season when they are all bound to go along with him even if he hasnt aquired the extra 26% - Unless the others have someone or some plan in the background, and it could be they tried with Berger etc - they stand to lose a hell of a lot if Ron doesnt get his way bacuse Honda will be all important to keep after 2015

So in conclusion I think Ron is simply going thru the motions and riding this out till he either gets the finance or the others have to yield anyway cos there is no other option.

This is my opinion, I would be happy to hear any other baked on the facts we have available rather than a general 'Honda love Button' or 'Button deserves to stay' as its clear its not about trying to analyse whos better between 2 drivers

So of all those possibilities, looking at the scenario that Ron doesn't get the £££ needed to get the extra shares - how long do you think they can play chicken with each other?

Winter Testing? Australia FP1?

Winter testing I reckon, maybe the second day with Stoiffel driving the first.

I do feel it's Ron playing chicken as you say

There can only be 1 winner

And all this dithering can't help with trying to attract a new title sponsor that we have been waiting 12 months for, surely?

Or have McLaren abandoned that idea. Or is Alonso bringing a title sponsor ..?

Alonso is tied at the hip with Santander isn't he?

That's my point.

I'm just fed up of the whole saga frankly, it has become silly, I'm starting to hope that both Jenson and Kevin tell Ron to go f*** himself and find drives elsewhere, both drivers are officially out of contract at the end of the year, and it would be stupid for both drivers to just sit contractless while McLaren play silly buggers.

But they'd have to head out of F1 to find a seat.

Better than sitting on their butts doing nothing, if they wait for McLaren to make a decision, the possibility of a decent drive outside of F1 might be gone as well!

The thing is that whichever driver gets chosen the other one is out of F1 (short of a save by Caterham or a test drive role)

Jenson is passed that part of his career. Kevin might go for either.

On the flip side the longer it goes on the more Mclaren can bargin down how much they pay them

Very true.

You do think, after 15yrs Jenson could afford a bit more dignity and pride, and tell Ron to stick it.

At least with Mags you could see why he is hanging on with hope - he is young. But Button if expect more of. It's no way for him to finish his F1 career. Regardless of if we feel he is overrated or that he lucked into his WDC, the guy is being made to look a mug and should of realised this a long time ago.
