On the flip side - when I was 12, i could get on my bike at 8am - cycle half way across the county - not get home till sunset, and mum wouldnt batter an eyelid.

If you let your kid do that now, you'd probably be up on charges of neglect.

It's getting the balance isn't it. kids live in a technological age and have to be competent with technology. They also have to be in situations where they take risks and make choices for real and where tneir imagination and problem solving skills can develop with real consequences not just pretend ones.

Kids are so sophisticated these days! I was supplying on Thursday and I read the kids a story about Christmas present lists then asked them what they wanted. Over half of them said iPads, iPods or phones. These kids were four years old!!:eek:

Its depressing to see this What happened to police and thief, hide and seek, and co. ? Free of charge, and way more fun...not to mention healthier.

Or hunt the ****

Then there was the stick and wheel.

I suppose when i was 9 or 10 i got my first computer for christmas as did a lot of other kids around that time but now it's common for households to have tablets, phones, laptops etc. around that kids are exposed to much younger. And they're easier to pick up and play, and no waiting for games to load off tape.

Finished off a training course I've been doing through work for the past three months on terrorism and counter terrorism. Was a lot of work, but worth it, really interesting stuff throughout. I'll be able to implement some of the stuff into my teaching next year too. :)

Hah, maybe I should have been more specific. The psychology of terrorists, the tactics they employ, the history of specific organisations and key personnel, domestic and international counter terrorism tactics, laws, investigative techniques and measures etc.

That sounds like a class worth taking ZA, for extra credit I hope you review at least one Bond film.

I always thought it'd be an interesting idea to write a thesis on how you could draw conclusions on the prevailing geopolitical issues at the time just based on the chronology and content of the films taken as a volume.

That's a cracking idea! I can't help but wonder if the University of Westminster might have done something like that. They have an entertainment law seminar series they do every now and then - earlier this year they did stuff on laws, crimes etc. as presented in a fictional way in Doctor Who...
