I have a half smile but at this stage that is about it. Kimi only managed 4th and now the Ferraris have 2 McLarens in between them. Hopefully Massa can win from where he is and that Kimi gets at least 3rd with the McLaren in 2nd being HK and not Hamilton.

Would have been easier if Kimi managed 3rd, he should have taken advantage to the fact that Lewis made tiny mistakes on his fast lap (Turn 8 and locking his tyres) and wearing hards. So even without a perfect lap he's right up there... Mclaren is strong for tomorrow.

Quite impressed by Kovalainen, to be honest. I knew that Massa was going to take pole, but he's going to be a couple of laps lighter than Raikkonen and Hamilton. Kovalainen tends to carry more fuel than Hamilton, so having out-qualified him twice so far in this season certainly shows that he is capable of winning races and challenging him right through. It should be an interesting race, because if Heikki has a lot more fuel than Felipe, he could be in with a chance of winning the race tomorrow

I'm happy that the McLarens seem to be having a good weekend in comparison to the last few, though the BMWs aren't quite so happy. I reckon McLaren will move to second place in the WCC after tomorrow's race.

Kovalainen did a good job and is turning into a fine racing driver. Golden boy Hamilton is being pushed and needs to get his act together soon. His lap on the prime tyres was still very good, but I think he will have less fuel in his car than Kovalainen, so, as Hamilton's stint will be shorter, he won't really get the benefit of the longer-lasting prime tyre. Raikkonen made a mistake in qualifying, but is also carrying more fuel than Massa, who will try and do his usual tactic of running the car on fumes because he can't handle being the pack. Kubica did alright, but Heidfeld doesn't look to have the car set-up correctly. Toyota looked pretty good today as well, easily beating Renault who were best of the rest in Spain. Piquet continues to be a disaster - when Kovalainen didn't get off the mark quickly last year he still showed that he could be fast and got things are ironed out gradually. Piquet has shown no signs of getting on top of things. Sadly, Williams look to be falling behind slightly.

I agree, McLaren Fan - Kovalainen has, I believe, been fuelled heavier than Hamilton in the majority of the races so far this season. He was in Australia and he had a great race that would have ended with a podium finish had the safety car not caused him to lose position.

Williams look to be falling behind slightly.

I think the car is rubbish in qualifying, but it's fine when it comes to race day and is perhaps the best car off the starting line.

No one seems to notice how good Red Bull qualified? I thought they did fantastic, and Webber did only 1 flying lap, and Coulthard finally made it into Q3. BMW seemed to be strong here, but Ferrari and Mclaren look really close here. It seemed that Heidfeld couldnt find the right set-up since he did a considerable amount of laps more than anyone else. I just hope Raikkonen doesnt pass both McLarens by the first turn. Renault have gone back to their usual pace, and Piquet seems to make things worse. And Williams, well they've had better days.

And I just want to say to the people who keep on saying F1 is boring now, to stop watching Formula 1. It is really ticking me off when I see people complain about how gay it is. Let me make a suggestion, stop watching F1 this year and wait til next year. I admit F1 isnt as fun to watch as it used to be, but I still love F1. Go join a forum where everyone complains about F1.

Formula One was never only about overtaking, something which people seem to be obsessing over. In fact, the amount of overtaking you see in other forms of motorsport is not as much as is commonly made out. But, nonetheless, compared to the standard of racing twenty years ago, Formula One has become slightly boring. What's making it even more unbearable is the cheek of the current crop of drivers who complain about safety standards and how tough the cars are to drive! To be frank, I wish the likes of Coulthard and Trulli would clear off. I'm sick of hearing their frequent and unsubstantiated moaning on the both of these matters.

Yes Kovi did a great job- congrats to him, he's proving his potential. But dont be so quick to write off the golden boy

When did I write off Hamilton? I didn't. He himself admitted that taking the prime tyre was a mistake, so unless he has a fair amount more fuel than those around him, which recent history suggests he doesn't, then he won't be able to get the advantage of having the harder tyre because his stint will be so short. I also said his qualifying lap on the prime tyre was excellent, regardless of how much fuel he had in the car. For some reason you seem to think I don't want Hamilton to do well when I do want him to do well, for a few reasons: 1) because I believe has the potential to be a great driver 2) because Britain needs a good driver 3) because he drives for McLaren.

Yeah the Mclaren guys did really good. And kimi has not had a good weekend.
Apparently the 08 Mclaren is handling as some of us have suggested: better on the tracks it did last year and worse on the ones it owned. Too bad for Lewis he made those 3 tiny mistakes, he could have started in an even better situation. But I guess we'll have to wait to see who is heavier than who.

to Mclaren Fan: for some reason, some people to think I want Lewis to fail too, but i don't. For a few reasons as well: 1) I like competition 2) I think he has potential 3) He will still be beaten by my favourite drivers

Hamiton should be worried about kimi behind him who will be pushing to at least get a podium. i expect a Massa pole to win victory today but hopefully kovi can make it exciting and challenge him he is turning into the racing driver that i knew he would be. Go on KOVI!!
