Yes, I think he'd have passed him too. If he had been on him straight away with new tyres he'd have had him. Ah well. He'll just have to do it next time. :D

Lewis would have passed Nico imo...or forced him to make a mistake......

But hey... Merc picked up another record....'most one/two in a season'.?

I'm sure I heard that Lewis has had, most fastest laps this season......

What you mean like in the last stint when Hamilton was behind yet was unable to pass or force Rosberg into an error

Yes I believe Ang means then, because Hamilton would have started the stint right on the tail of Rosberg and on fresh tyres. In that situation Hamilton generally gets past.

Maybe i'm getting confused, but I thought Hamilton came out from his stop right behind Nico, gave it a good go but couldn't get past then followed him home? The only difference might have been if he was closer when Rosberg stopped for the 3rd time one extra lap might have allowed Hamilton to jump Rosberg in the pits.

I included this JA report with my post, re if LH had been allowed to come in, after one hot 'in' lap (which is usual), instead of being asked to try & do 2 hot laps on tyres that were not up to it. JA says "He would have come out of the pit lane behind Rosberg, a few car lengths back, but might have challenged him down the hill into turn 4, for which he would have had the inside line, being on the LHS of the circuit."

Too much speculation here, you never know if Lewis would've been side by side in the first place....JA doesn't either.

What lost Lewis the race is having to burn out his tyres to make up 7.5seconds (although his pace was still pretty good), without which he might have had more left in the tyres (rear especially) to go for a good jump into Turn 1...with plenty of opportunities.

He was about 7 secs adrift after his spin and pitstop, so he couldn't take advantage of the new tyres and the momentum, he had to claw back that seven seconds and it took too long, he hadn't got enough time or tyres left to get past......I think.

One late thought on this, the heat and the issue with the tires in Brazil, it was Massa's whinning about safety that made Pirelli bring a softer compound to the circuit. They were originally going with Hard and Medium which would have handled the circuit much better.
#425879
Yes. Kept thinking about that during the race when everyone's tyres were going off. But why did Pirelli suddenly take Massa to be the tyre guru??
#425948
They didn't. They specifically said they made the change not due to Massa but by their own decision (I can't remember what turned it exactly). If they DID listen to Felipe Baby, well they know better from now onwards.
#425955
Maybe they initially forgot Massa was no longer driving for Ferrari and assumed it was the usual request to help Ferrari be competitive. It could even be in a secret bilateral agreement that Bernie is hiding from us like he his the extra money and veto.
