Brundle said it best in the race - if he leaves F1 there will be a lot of drivers left who couldn't hold a candle to him.

Lol Brundle has a strong man love for this guy. Great commentator IMO, but one thing common about him (no matter if Button is driving a Benetton/Minardi/McLaren) Brundle will be bleating about what Buttons doing on track, probably only when himself and about 10 other people around the world give a damn.

Button is old, got one lucky championship and it's time to give new blood a chance. Way past time, but Brundle and his Button loving mates will want Button to cruise around circuits for the next 10 years if he could.

Sounds like his fans led him to believe McLaren should pay him as much as 'a few out there '

At least he says he doesn't take the pee

Just when I'm starting to feel sorry for Jens, and that he isn't being treated fairly, he says something that irritates me.

The first one. He says it's important to feel part of the family, yet he went out of his way to alienate Lewis from the family. So that's a bit hypocritical.

The second one is that you get what your worth. He's been on more than he's worth for three years. And he isn't worth more than Lewis( which was being suggested before Lewis left McLaren) he never complained or mentioned it then.

So much as I feel for Jenson and think he should have been told by now what's happening. He's playing games again.

Does he expect McLaren to thank him for their last 2 record breaking seasons? So Ma and Pa are going broke ever since the prodigal son showed up, but the prodigal son just wants to feel like 'part of the family'. Hilarious.

I created a seperate thread to track Buttons behaviour through the final 'acts' of his career. So far he is on the border line of between the old Jenson and a Jenson we can leave in peace once he leaves

It would be pointless of him to turn on the team on his way out

Talk about history repeating itself!

Didn't McLaren go through this two years ago with Hamilton? Jenson should just go to another F1 team, he's seen how it ends. There's potentially another WDC and a dozen wins in future for him if he picks the right team to join. Personally though, I think WEC is a good move and his driving style will be well suited for the endurance aspect of it.

History repeating itself? You don't think Magnus took out all his mechanics and most of Jensons on a steak dinner and bowling while Jenson was upset with Ron do you? :yikes:

Did he really? In my view, Jenson looked out for his own interests, just like many other drivers before him at McLaren and other teams, it's happened for years, just that with social media and the Internet in today's technological age, we hear more about the internal dealings of teams and drivers.

The second one is that you get what your worth. He's been on more than he's worth for three years. And he isn't worth more than Lewis( which was being suggested before Lewis left McLaren) he never complained or mentioned it then.

What a driver is worth is whatever a team are willing to pay for him/her and when the contract was signed. He was deemed to be worth £13m (which seems to be the latest figure published), which of course was at a time when drivers were generally considered more valuable. Jenson had nothing to do with what RD/MW were offering Lewis for a contract renewal, times were changing at McLaren and they wanted to pay less money for drivers services in general.

So much as I feel for Jenson and think he should have been told by now what's happening. He's playing games again.

McLaren/Dennis are also playing games, so all's fair in love and war...

Yes, McLaren are playing hardball, but Jenson is trying to make out he'd never do such a thing. He's back on with his other face.

You do get what someone is willing to pay for you , and Whitmarsh was willing to pay a lot for Jenson, and that was great for Jenson, but my point is, he can't now turn round and complain when they aren't willing to pay for him, you can't have that both ways.

Jenson built his little McLaren family around him at Lewis' expense. He obviously was looking after himself, and had little concern for Lewis as he became isolated at the team. Okay, that's how he operates and it's a strength, but now he's complaining that he feels rejected. What goes around comes around. He always wants it both ways.

Jenson got what McLaren was willing to pay for him. I think there would have been more than just Whitmarsh deciding the millions that Jenson signed for.
I hope Jenson gets a drive next year, I like Jenson and he likes cake and I like cake so there!

Which is why the sacked TP gave him the wage in the first place :hehe:

Yes, Jenson was looking out for himself, people who think "oh, better not do that, it may hurt my team mate" ultimately fail in F1! And now yes he is doing the same, it's the same political game as ever, both sides are playing politics, but I can see how it grates on LH's fans. Look on the brightside, if it wasn't for JB joining McLaren, Lewis would probably never have signed for Mercedes and be in the position he is now, you should be thanking JB for managing Lewis' career.:hehe:

:hehe: yes . I will be eternally grateful to Jenson for that. :)
