2007 Brazil GP race starting in a few minutes (9pm) on Sky....

Really enjoyed that race, was really tense as a Ferrari fan because even though Massa was leading with Raikkonen 2nd you knew that was going to get switched in the stops (to get around the team order regs...) but after Hamilton's gearbox issue it was all about if he could get upto 5th which at times looked possible. Alonso was covered because the Ferrari's were dominant but until the last 5-10 laps it was really close whether Hamilton could get up to P5. As it was he could only make P7 and Raikkonen stole the title.

As a Lewis Hamilton fan....that race still really hurts, I felt so sorry for him. That 40 seconds he lost with the electrical glitch seemed like an eternity. Had that not happened, he would have won the Championship. Martin Whitmarsh said they had never had that problem before & probably wouldn't ever have it again.

yeah, McLaren had never been DQed from the WCC and nearly DQed from the WDC for spygate and probably wouldnt ever be again

Not good memories..... :banghead:
But back to today...Nico has gone fastest in first practice

Rosberg ahead by 0.2 on the softs. Lewis had to do multiple laps to get his best time after running wide on his first effort. He had done a PB and a purple S2 before pitting so there's more for Lewis.

Kimi going well so far.

So he's managing to find his way around the circuit ok?

Joking aside, they managed to set the car up well in FP2. In FP1 it was all over the place like a parkinson's patient in a roller rink. This circuit could be very friendly towards Red Bull and Ferrari and with the biblical proportion deluges that can show up here, it may very well make for a very interesting race come Sunday.

They keep taming these tracks so much, they are all starting to look like Abu Dhabi. The old pitlane entrance was a test for REAL MEN especially in the wet. Top drivers struggled to get it stopped in time, now they effectively pussified it....thank you.

While I do agree that tracks are being sanitized far too much in the modern age, when it comes to the pitlane and all the people that are found there, I think it's a good idea to have traffic calming methods, chicanes etc to make sure someone doesn't come in too hot and wipe out a pit--crew.

As I said at the start of the season, I think making Abu Dhabi the finale was stupid, Interlagos always creates great racing while Marina Bay is hit or miss.

Hamilton needs to win this one to give him proper breathing room in Abu Dhabi. Should he find himself at the back at the last race, despite proving he can come back to third, that wouldn't be enough if Nico won here and AD. Two races to go, worst case scenario he loses the title by a point, or he could win it by 99. Cheers Bernie.

That could be the wrong thinking. He cant really base his plans around what if scenarios like randomly starting at the back etc. He has to build around 2 normal races for both drivers, then go from there. He can and probably will come second in the next 2 races and win. Why would he have to win to cater for the black swan event?

Obviously he will try to win, but the wrong set would be he must win etc etc

We had a couple of experts on here earlier explaining that this is what cost him the WDC in his rookie year - wanting to win the penultimate race. Its Nico who has to do this or that, Lewis needs to sit back and see what happens, Nico has to make something happen
