Mclaren may have not had the title since 1999 but no reason to call it pathetic, Ron's time isn't over yet, people seem to stay at Mclaren, yet leave or move on from Ferrari

Hm, ask FA or KR about that? And compare to MS and RB...
Plus, that some of the top people at Ferrari leave/retire after such a long period of success is very understandable, don't you think?

It's way to early to start talking teams up or down. It's motor racing and anything can an will happen. Just look at last year where Ferrari were trailing way behind till the last part of the year.

Very interesting to read all your responses.

I think a Rookie, in his 2nd season in F1, has got no right to come out and speak of McLaren improving. McLaren know what they have to do, let Ron come out and say this.

I know Hamilton needs to act like a team leader now and make all the right noises, but nobody will take him seriously. He's a kid with very limited experience.

He should just be saything things like "I must try harder, I can squeeze more out of the car, the team are doing a fantastic job."

"There are areas where we definitely need to improve,"

In an interview during the weekend he was talking about the difficulties in setting up the car and that being one area where they need to improve. In the quote from your post there is the word 'we' which if he's talking about the same area would imply that he's talking about how the rest of the team and himself work together to set up the car.

also from your post:

"Mistakes happen," he said. "It was one of those character-building things, a learning curve I guess.

"But I didn't feel I had to come here and do anything extra or do anything different. You know what I can do. I don't feel I needed to prove it.

"I just wanted to do a solid job for the team and get points, and I'm really happy with where we've come, especially after a qualifying performance that was not the best.

"But to see the reliability of the car, how much we could push at the end and the pace of the car improving throughout the race, that was quite encouraging."

He admitted making mistakes and that his performance during qualifying was 'not the best' then says that the reliability and pace of the car was quite encouraging.

What is interesting is to see what you read into that in the first place.

By spending your whole rookie year under the wing of your daddy Alonso. So, while this may be Lewis' 2nd year it is actually his 1st year 'flying solo'...
:D:D:D sorry bud... i had to go for this dig :D:D

By the way.. the WE in Lewis' comments again mean he acknowledges he's part of a team. This is one of the english language's limitations... spanish and frecnh speaking people don't have such difficulty

Look, we don't have to even drive the cars to know that they need improving, so it's hardly wrong of someone who does drive the cars to be able to say that...
