Only a mechanical DNF will take it from him. Or Nico promising Sutil the third Merc seat to help him out a bit.

Good point WB. As we know, Sutil is the man for that task. He still feels miffed about the whole "Lewis didn't come and testify in court that I'm generally a good sort..boohoo" This could be Sutil's ultimate revenge: cockup qualify so he would start at the back. Complain all race long to his engineers that he can't cope with the oversteer, understeer, brake issue, the FM on his radio stuck on one song, the car's AC on the fritz...all of which being the root cause why he is still last. This would be the plot, just waiting for around lap 40 when Lewis arrives on the scene to put him, Sutil, a lap down. "OOPS! I thought Lewis was passing on the left so I went right. My bad old chap!":blush: ( :irked: )

2 left and unfortunately, this is next. Why unfortunately? This is more worthy for a title decider than Abu Dhabi could ever be! But nevertheless, rain or shine, this should open up for a cracking race. Looking forward and the battle continues!

I would hesitate to be so harsh on Abu Dhabi. Yes Interlagos is a fantastic venue, and has provided us with some amazing season-closers over the past decade, but I believe Abu Dhabi suffered from the misfortune of having a processional first race. However, on more than one occasion, Abu Dhabi has given us a thrilling race, and has once or twice been a contender for one of the top races of the year.

Interlagos has also had its poor races, including last year's. Let's hope it doesn't occur again this time though.

The only decent Abu Dhabi race I remember was 2012.

2009 - Procession
2010 - Procession despite being a title decider where Alonso and Webber in far superior cars couldnt pass a Renault.
2011 - Procession
2013 - Vettel walked away with it and cant even remember what else happened

Abu Dhabi suffers from being the epitomy of what modern F1, or Bernie, is striving for. Glitz and glammer over good old fashioned racing. Having said that,
it's an interesting track, but also suffered too often from being towards the end of a Vettel juggernaut storm to the title. Brazil is more traditional; a bit
rickety, it's been a bookend for the calendar for as long as I can remember; the drivers love it - undulating, bumpy, challenging, not bad for overtaking,
tempramental weather, it should have served up some crackers, but I'm struggling to remember any, other than maybe '08's neurotic mess. There's great
individual drives though - MS' last race for Ferrari, Nige winning first time out in his Ferrari, Senna and his broken gearbox.

Brazil 2003 is in my top 5 best races watched. Despite being screwed over and forced to end early thanks to Alonso's rash idiocy which spoiled the results completely....and even still in my top 5. So I always look forward to this track.

I wouldn't be surprised if at some point the idea to make Austin the closing round isn't floated.

I could envisage that. Abu Dhabi, Brazil and then end with Austin. That would be some year-end party afterwards. More bar-b-q, beer, chewing tobacco, fireworks and big belt buckles in one weekend than anyone should every endure in a lifetime.

Sorry...I shouldn't generalize like that. Lots of fireworks in other countries too. :hehe:

Such fun.

I agree, but if Alonso hadn't crashed then the plucky Jordan wouldn't have won the race as the engine went as the race finished and it returned to the pits. That said it would have been interesting to see if it would have been Raikkonen or Coulthard who would have won. Would Raikkonen have had to pit again?

Was it webber that hit alonso? Or am I thinking of another incident?

I think Alonso hit a big bit of derbies on the track which caused him to crash because Webber had a big crash if I recall, Safety Car came out, Alonso hit the bits on the track which caused him to crash. Can't recall, but I think it was a tyre

Yes, 100%. Ron Dennis said after the race was over that DC had it in the bag if not for the Alonso screw up. I loved the race from Lap 1, the McLaren guys putting on an awesome display right up till the bitter end...and a Jordan wins thanks to great timing of a red flag.

They keep taming these tracks so much, they are all starting to look like Abu Dhabi. The old pitlane entrance was a test for REAL MEN especially in the wet. Top drivers struggled to get it stopped in time, now they effectively pussified it....thank you.

And to back up your theory we have Massa....

The pit exit is more or less similar, a little bit more side. And I would say corner two is more safe because the wall is a bit more far away so we don’t see so many crashes which we saw many times on that corner. I think it will be a lot safer now.

And the pit entrance I would say it was a good job. You still have the wall there in the similar place, this is the only thing that need to be careful. But the pit entrance is better so I would say it’s more safer, it’s better.

Yes when the World Champion Cryer on the grid likes changes made to tracks, it only proves me right.
