Add another race to the boring list for 2014.

Ricciardo's brilliant driving was the only interesting part of the event, a superb pass on Alonso. He is the star of this season.

Rosberg tried to make it work with a qually setup but this track takes far too much out of the tires on race day. Hamilton was able to just steam right past. Looks like Nico has run out of ideas.

Maybe though Brazil will offer up some twists as only Brazil can to breathe some excitement into this championship.

Oh look, Boosty is back with the long awaited post race analysis.

WIN #10, must hurt like a right B!tch.

 LOL

Yeah the race was far from boring. You may have been watching X Factor rather than F1, but seriously, the race, boring? lol...

What happend to all the fanstatic drive in Sochi and the momentum and the beating his teammate by .4 tenths?!?!

I agree Ricciardo had a fantastic drive. I just wish the RB10 has a bit more engine so he could give Lewis some competition and take some points away from Rosberg. As it is embarrasing that with only one more win than Ricciardo he's still in a potion to win a title should Lewis' car fail in Abu Dhabi.

Boring? On what planet was that boring?

The fight for the lead was tense the whole race and Hamilton pulled out a great pass. Behind we had a decent fight between Massa and Ricciardo for P3. And lets not forget the crazy last 10 laps from 6th to 14th - some fantastic racing between the midfield pack.

In my opinion it was one of the better races this season and miles better than Sochi last time out.

Bet Sauber and Force India wished they had stopped at the end of lap 1 now

Can you imagine, another US GP with cars peeling off into the pits at the start.

To be fair, thats effectively what Perez did - he just decided to do it on 3 wheels :hehe::hehe:

For his exuberance, Perez has just received a 7 place grid penalty for Brazil

Rosberg put it all on taking pole but it wasn't enough. And it looks like he is unable to defend aggressively. Do you think that the team has beaten any real racing out of these guys?

I agree it is a shame that the other teams are suffering with weak engines and are not allowed to compete. Ricciardo would be too hard for the Merc drivers to handle I would say! Look at what he did to Alonso.

And what was going on with Mario, he wouldn't let Hamilton wear his stetson! I guess grasshopper just isn't ready yet. And then at the end he asks "Can I leave?". I hope they got him home ok.

You think Lewis couldn't handle Ricciardo?? but then you thought this race was boring :hehe:
It would be great watching Ricci try though. Ricci, Alonso and Lewis in similar cars. Sweet!

I agree, I don't know what it could possibly be. Maybe he has had the fight taken out of him, or maybe it's just the fact that he's managed to turn only 25% of his poles into wins. It's inexplicable if there's wasn't such an obvious answer should one ask the right question. I would be so much easier if Nico didn't have to have these fancy qualifying set up as you put it and just raced and won more often. It's such a shame, such a clearly capable driver not being able to beat his teammate on Sunday. :banghead: I mean he had the Sochi race sewn up and BAM. :banghead: ...and now this??? :banghead:

I like Ricciardo and I hope he's able to give the Merc boys some more competition next year as Red Bull's number one man.

You are right it was better than Sochi which was dreadful but it was not a very exciting race to me. Vergne deserves a mention as he spiced it up at the end but as with everybody else during the early and middle phases of the race they were cruising around saving fuel.

Bring on Brazil one of my favorites.

Exciting stuff. Highlighted a lot of the good points of the drivers.

Hamilton seems to have this elastic thing going on when following Rosberg. Time stretches then comes back, does this for longer than you think it should, makes you think maybe he doesn't have the legs and perhaps Rosberg might finally pull one off, bides his time, then bam, game over.

Ricciardo when hooked up just brings something special to the race. For all intents and purposes he shouldn't have been able to pass both Williams' so easily. His tyre management again was top notch.

The best and worst of Vettel. When it suits him he's great, when it doesn't he's lumpy. He's finally getting the hang of overtaking, which is nice.

A tenacious Button showing great craft. Ironically he probably helped Mag out in the latter parts, who drove a solid race again.

Vergne, poor Vergne, monstering his way through at the end as usual. Has he always done this or did I just not notice this before he got the flick?

Maldo, crazy but fast, I don't know how he managed to spend so much time off track but still end up in the points.

Actually there were good battles up and down the entire grid if you looked. I mean yeah, Lewis handled the drive past Rosber as a sunday drive in the country controlling the pace methodically. But beyond that up and down the grid there were lots of passes on the track and in the pits and a ton of different strategies and...

I will say this, Bottas as consistent as he is, seems to not have the same racer's fire as Ricciardo. I've picked Bottas over Massa on a number of occasions where I felt he could pull a podium off but he's just comfortable in close quarters. The fight he brought to Melbourne seems like so long ago. I'd love to make one driver out of the pairing at Williams to come up with a great hybrid of skills. Neither Massa nor Bottas are complete. At least Bottas has some years ahead of him and given the right car, can certainly win it.

So much of the sport ultimately falls to being in the right car at the right time regardless of the driver skills.

Well done Lewis. Great pass and another step closer to the championship.

I love the Austin track. A classic race imo........and only in it's 3rd year. :D

Also love the back to back races.
Sao Paulo up next........another Lewis track. :P

Its called stalk and collect, distinct from cruise and collect which requires the guy in front to have an issue and fall off the track.S&C means you intelligently stay within touch of the guy managing your fuel and tyres and waiting for the optimum moment to pounce, generally when your prey has been worn down by the relentless but not overt pressure you place by matching his speed yet not forcing the issue until you already know you will pass.

Ricc had help from the strategy sharpness we have come to expect from RBR and to yearn for from Williams. Vettel needs a good car, and he got one later when he calmed down and remeberd it was 2014 and not 2013

Great craft?, did you mean when his team mate shrugged him off as if he had been watching Sergio Perez videos? He put up a futile and egotistical struggle against Alonso who didnt have the mighty Merc lump, got taken by STRs and finished 4 places behind his teammate who had several issues along the way. JEV who is hoping for a drive next season did not look like a driver on around 1/60th of Buttons salary as he dusted the Merc engined driver in his points dodging Renault powered back grid car
Even Maldos Renault dusted him despite about 20 crashes and offs

Which racecraft stopped him finishing even a place behind his teammate during the laps he dropped 4 places behind? Maybe his tyre management???

I also present facts to back up the reasons I dont rate him

I was just curious about the facts underpinning your 'great racecraft' opinion, if there are no facts thats cool, he is a real gentleman and a disturbing looking fellow apparently

"disturbingly good looking" is the term I believe, but for some he may look disturbing :hehe:
