Well, we're not sure what is going on with Fernando but...

  • He's been linked with McLaren
  • There is a suggestion he might take a year out
  • Fernando mentioned he wants to do whats best for Ferrari (Staying at Ferrari? Retiring & taking a leadership role?)
  • There's a NEW story that he might be trying to buy Lotus, along with Flavio & many famous/rich people from Spain

What do you guys think is going to happen?

Interesting huh, Ted said that Fernando's been talking to a lot of famous and rich Spanish people and look where Fernando won his two championships... Enstone

I like option 2.

I like option 2.

I just can't hate Alonso hammer, he's just too good. It's so much easier to keep the likes and dislikes of drivers strictly limited to on track performance. So much easier that way.

Will Buxton just tweeted "So Alonso confirmed to me on @NBCSN that he would not have @MercedesAMGF1 power in his 2015 car."

https://twitter.com/willbuxton/status/5 ... 8147336192

So, is he staying at Ferrari and this is all smoke for Vettel going somewhere else, is it McLaren Honda or is it a sabbatical? Like him or hate him I really hope it isnt the latter. F1 will lose out if arguably the best driver on the grid isnt racing.

According to Will Buxton Alonso won't be in a Mercedes engined car and won't be going to Red Bull, Toro Rosso or Sauber.

Pretty much leaving him with McLaren...

EDIT: Tree'd.

@WB...I haven't missed his presence this year at the front at all. We have Hamilton, Ricciardo, Bottas, Rosberg (on occasion), upcoming Kvyat, Vettel (on occasion) to entertain the next few years. In fact, Ferrari as a whole could leave the sport tomorrow and there would be no change AFAIC. Mercedes VS McLaren VS Williams VS Redbull next year is more than enough.

Option 4 would be the one that shows us Alonso is realistic and has long term horizon, which would be in keeping with what we see on track. So he tried to buy a cycling team and pulled out, and is now rumoured to be looking at Enstone - makes sense many drivers have taken this route - it would not be hard for Alonso to pull the backers
If he is as smart as we think then he must know he doesnt have a rats chance of winning anything with Ferrari or replacing Nico or Lewis before he is ready to retire. And the new generation will not be cutting him any slack.

Also we keep talking about if Ron would have Alonso back when the real question to a proud Spaniard should be whether he would ever go back to a place that humiliated him with a rookie instead of give him the respect he feels he is worth whether the rookie was better or not
And if he can raise the money plus Merc engines he will most likely beat Ferrari anyway and at least he doesnt have to restrain himself around a geriatric di montezedodo or even worse a young hot shot with no respect for the Alonsos of this world

Caterham is going for cheap at the moment. It's actually really interesting what going to wind up. I'm still in the Alonso at McLaren next year camp though.

Tbh, I hope he doesn't leave just yet. The Spanish GP was always an ill-attended event until he started winning with Renault... other reasons too, but he brings a lot of fans to the sport.

I also forgot to mention there is also the three car talk still going on where Ferrari might have Alonso, Raikkonen and Vettel...

There is also a rumor of a 1 year sabbatical where he would go and work with Gene Haas on the 2016 team.

I'm quickly losing interest in where Alonso goes, where Button goes, where Vettel goes. Why is everything so stupid?
