If we thimk about schumacher they keep people with head injuries in a coma. I dont think helping people to breath in that state is not unusual.

s***. There is a link now on twitter, showing a video of the crash.

Man, its pretty violent.

I wont post it on here.

EDIT - video now been blocked on youtube, via FOM for 'copyright reasons' - even though its a fans footage.

I saw Sutil sliding into the barrier and he seemed to go in slow. Was hoping Jules had done the same. I haven't seen the video but I guess not. Just got to hope like mad he recovers completely.

I was musing about drivers and head injuries and if they are ever the same again.

1st to spring to mind was Massa, i dont think he is back to pre incident levels, however Ferrari supported him a long time after i think a lot of arm chair critics would of supported him.

I then thought about Mika Hakk, with Mclarens support and patience he came back and won 2 titles.

So my next thought was would or could Marussia be able to support Jules. Sadly i dont think they could (not becase they would not be able to just that i think they have enough on their plate just to survive. So I thught the future looked bleak for Jules i F1 circles.

Then i remembered Jules is part of the Ferrari family. Who have good form with Massa. So he might still be in the paddock when he recovers.

Edit: Ferrari took Burti on after his head injuries as well

I'm horrified looking at the images and the video floating around. It's really sad to see a driver fighting for his life but we've seen it before and sadly we will see it again. It's racing, it's part and parcel of the danger inherent in the sport.

There's a lot of crap on the web about lack of safety or stopping the race and the poor corner worker guy waiving the green flag for the next sector that it's his fault somehow. Why do people insist on putting blame on everyone and everything except on where it belongs, Jules made a mistake, just like Sutil the lap before. They were on worn inters and like every other driver they had the choice of going in and putting on a fresh set of full wets since the rain had increased as suddenly as it did.

He didn't though, he chose not to because like every other guy on the track, he was racing for the highest position he could.

Just seen it and it wasn't slow, he went under the back of the crane and threw it into the air. Amazing he survived, hope he recovers ok.

He threw the crane in the air?? Jesus!!
It's so so sad, it always is when one of our heros endures such an accident. It's a dangerous sport, and though safety has improved immensely it remains a dangerous sport and accidents will happen. Accidents happen in all walks of life. Wrong place wrong time. But still very sad. I get a little annoyed when I hear people trying to apportion blame. Does anyone think Jules would want that? Jules was doing what he loved. I don't think the race control were at fault here, they did the right thing( unlike Hokenheim) . If anything the race organisers were over cautious with when they started the racing , most drivers were calling for the race to start.
One thing that's crossed my mind, in view of this accident and Maria's accident, when JCB/ transporter type vehicles are on track near race cars, is there some way they can be protected from impact of a race car? Maybe with a mobile tyre wall? Just a thought, tell me if I'm being stupid.

A corner worker in Canada died after being run over by a crane moving a car out of the track AFTER the race. It happens. Sort of puts into perspective the back and forth we had a few weeks ago when Alonso's car wouldn't start and the Ferrari team stayed on the track to fix it while the cars on the formation lap whizzed by and a only five second stop and go was issued by the stewards. Go figure.

Flagrant disregard for safety rules that are In place and ignored should be taken very seriously ( like the Ferrari on grid situation, like the Hokenheim situation) but you cant legislate against accidents, sadly they will happen. like the marshal who bent down pick up his phone and was run over( is that the one you mean WB?) and like Jules and lots of others in all walks of life.

Yeah, I was there that race and didn't hear about it until I got back to the hotel.
