Jesus, horrible news to get watching it all this morning when I woke up. My heart sank when I heard it was severe head injury. Hoping for the best Jules.

great news  hopefully that means the surgery was more a precaution than any essential brain operation

He's out of surgery, not on life support. Godspeed, Jules

That's so uplifting and settling, I was fearing the worst. Great news that he's out of surgery and most importantly not needing to be on life support.

I want to share a picture of the crash - but I know some people wouldn't want to see it.

It basically shows a close-up view of Bianchi sitting in his car in the aftermath. What I could see is that the whole top of the roll cage has been sawed off. Almost all the way down to where Bianchi is sitting in the car. The key word here is ALMOST.

By the looks of things Bianchi's head escaped most of the impact, and his helmet looks intact. Only fractions of millimeters in it though - but I think the pictures look a tad reassuring - even though it still is a nasty accident.

Also he's breathing on his own, so that's good as well.

Oh god. That makes me thinkof Maria's accident. I wish they'd give us some news.

That's what I thought too. :(

Very sad way to end the race, and my thoughts are with Jules and his family and friends.

After they called the race (under the red flag) as being over,
I switched off the TV, as it was almost 4:00 a.m.

As it's been one of those days, I didn't get near the internet
much today; but, when I heard about Bianchi's accident I was
sick to my stomach. Even the "reassuring" facts haven't been
much help, to be honest.

Here's hoping Bianchi's recovery is speedy and complete!

Looking at those photos of the wreckage; Bianchi is incredibly lucky to be alive! Here's hoping for a swift recovery and hopefully see him back behind the wheel in 2014/15.

Incredible that Bianchi and all the surrounding marshal's are alive. Obviously, Bianchi's fate is yet to be seen, though today could have been much worse given the proximity of the crash to the marshals.
