I want to see drivers of quality win world titles. Massa is not one of those. It's sad to see clowns like him get success when there have been stacks of better drivers out there who weren't so lucky to be in the right car at the right time (or Massa's case be brought in as Schumacher's tea boy).

I find this way too harsh on FM. He is definitely not a clown like, e.g., MW or GF. He is a decent driver and a decent human being - more than can be said of many other drivers.
I guess you and I have to agree to disagree on this one.

Fisichella's a clown? That's a new one...

he seems no doubt a nice guy but i fear he will do a barrichello and slide down the grid after ferrari get rid of him

Unfortuantely, nobody at the front wants Rubens because of his age. Put him in a competitive car, take away the situation where he wasn't allowed to beat Schumacher in the championshi and he'd be winning races and challenging for the title.

Yes. C'mon, he drove a championship winning Renault and couldn't do better? He's another one of those eternal 'young' talents who just need to be in the right car to become world champion

In normal circumstances, I'd agree with you. But look at the guy's track-record with sub-par vehicles and you'll find that it's rather unfair to say that...

Yes, I look and look, and all I see is GF in a championship winning Renault under-performs like throughout his entire career. Much hype and hope, not much to show for.

Evidently you aren't looking very far. Every car that he has driven, bar the championship-winning Renault, he has performed rather impressively in. He's out-performed the majority of his cars and the majority of his team-mates. He's not championship-winning material maybe, but that does not mean he's a clown. And he makes far fewer mistakes than Massa does ;)

Well, that's exactly what makes him a clown: always promising, always hope when he gets a good car, he'll be able to show 'em. What happened? He got the best car on the grid and... nothing! Clown!

Huh. Guess the definition of clown is constantly changing, then.

It takes a lot more effort to put a crap car in a good spot than a good car in a good spot. I don't consider someone who can do that a clown.

Me neither. What I consider a clown is a driver who always whines about wanting to drive for a top team. Then when he gets his wish, he doesn't live up to his promise.
#41825
What promise? He didn't show world championship potential, he showed race-winning potential. And he won one in 2005 (he could have won more, but he suffered a large string of retirements) and one in 2006, as season where, apart from two retirements, he finished every race in the points. When you look at last year, none of the front-runners managed that.

Fine. He was the greatest driver since Fangio, just a bit unlucky. Still a clown :P

I think Fisi is one of those drivers who does better when he isn't under pressure, basically when he's an underdog. He's doing well in the Force India and also for Sauber in 2004 when they were pretty much a midfield team capable of punching above their own weight every so often.

I agree with this assessment. As soon as he's under performance pressure, he falters. He's doing really well with Force India and kudos for coming up with enough motivation to do so.

Potential is nothing if you don't use it. A large part of sport (and other things in life) is your mental strength. Although I don't agree with you on Massa, I certainly do about Fisichella. He's a clown too. :P
