I think Flavio might fit in well  But why are we writing off the M&M man already? He has potential, he's convincing. Do Tifosi not think he will be staying?

Two big slots have opened. Sergio has no capability or desire to be involved in F1, so there is a need for at least 2 big replacements. I definitely like Marco and believe he has shown great promise, but he also has a lot to learn. Room for at least 2 big entries on the technical side IMO.

Todays F1 needs the new Merc style management structure - instead of 1 old school autocrat who is out of touch with reality they need MM on the comercial Toto side, then they will need a proper technical don like Bob Bell, and the Lauda link with the parent and the resources tap - Sergio. MM is already doing a great job with cutting the slackness and inefficient romantic, nationalistic, legacy, traditional, passionate operational procedures, to go to the next step he will need a track side engineering manager reporting to him and/or to Sergio.

Only problem for the Tifosi will be whos gonna supply the passionate stuff - like 'aero is for drinks companies' or 'engines pull the car not push it' and 'we can only win when we have the old engines back' and sending knives to employees :yikes: and insisting Ferrari need special dispensations instead of knuckling down.

Maybe the Tifosi can find that stuff the same place Mercedes finds drivers who can't drive into a pit lane entrance.

I am not sure where they found Nico, but MS, who was known for driving into people was found at Maranello :D

And here I was, thinking that Schumi was "found" by Jordan...
Oh, wait... d'ya mean that Jordan is based at Maranello?

Schumi actually drove for Mercedes before he drove for either Jordan or Ferrari

MS was found by Merc AMG - (the F1 team) at Ferrari and persuaded to come out of retirement away from nursing Massa at Ferrari and for the newly formed Merc team instead

I think spanks is referring to pre-F1 days....which doesn't really apply in this conversation in the first place since this is an F1 forum and we're talking about talents being 'found' from outside F1.

A case of someone outwitting themselves again by not sticking to the point in a conversation.

On the other hand if someone is both sides of an argument with themselves they should at least be able to outwit themselves

I'm sure you know that there are more than one definition for the word "found"

Schumi wasn't "found" in 2009, as in he wasn't lost.

Nor was he "found" in 2009, as in being a new addition to F1.

My comment was made tongue in cheek... next time, I'll find a suitable smiley, to avoid confusion!

And the best part is I wasn't even talking about your post. Your post actually had a valid point.

Aww mea culpa.

I wasn't about Schumacher or Nico. I think there is only one driver who can;t manage to drive into the pit lane

Ah you meant the ROOKIE Hamilton in his first F1 season when he repeatedly requested a pit stop over the radio as his tyres were done, which was rejected by the pit until his tyres were bald? Driving into Kimi in his ROOKIE year also??

Talking about Kimi, here is a real class act, not even in his ROOKIE year, straight into the back of another car for absolutely no reason, (perhaps he had a cheeky Gin and tonic before the race)

This was Raikkonen's masterclass....NOT in his rookie season. The Jordan was on a hot lap on the racing line, and Kimi manages to collect him with a lazy swerve on track for goodness knows what reason. How do you classify this incident?

As far as ROOKIE mistakes go we have had some really funny ones, Button And Coulthard both crashing out on the PARADE lap takes some beating (actually I am not even sure both were ROOKIES)

Alonso crashing into the wall in qualifying in Monaco was pretty impressive - actually he wasnt a ROOKIE either

Nico crashed the same wat Lewis did in the pit lane - but he wasnt a ROOKIE either

this is hard work, but I am sure there are some pure ROOKIE mistakes that illustrate how uniquely bad the ROOKIE Hamilton was in the season he beat the reigning 2x WDC

Alonso and Ferrari were denied a WDC by Petrov due to a shambles of a strategy and the lack of cojones to even ATTEMPT a SINGLE overtake on Petrov - and Petrov was a ROOKIE - yup thats the one I was looking for
