...How about having teams go an entire season with only three wing changes for the year.

We did, it was called HRT

I'm totally against it. I think it's fine as every team can communicate whatever information they want to their drivers. Even tho it's the DRIVERS championship, you can tell a driver "hey you're losing two tenths in this sector, try x and y" it's still up to the driver to execute it well and you're still expecting a driver to make changes that are within tenths of a second of each other so it doesn't make the job in the cockpit any easier. this is just looking for solutions to something that isn't a problem in my opinion and more FIA meddling. I mean I guess I can see what they're saying, but I love hearing the radio transmissions and the technical side of everything. I think it's fascinating and increases my interest as a fan. IMO there aren't enough radio transmissions broadcasted. Not by NBCSN anyway

I see it like this; if fans are not liking the radio messages; STOP BROADCASTING THEM!

That said; I don't hear too much grumbling about radio messages from fans, I hear more about the new sound of F1 and the artificial overtaking aids, DRS/KERS.

I have the opposite view: I'd like no radio at all and we go back to pit signs - that way the drivers have to race and not the engineers.
Maybe for emergencies or something, we could have a grand total of 3 radio communications (ok, Maldonado gets 6) per race.

We could go back to making it a 100% driver sport, no radio, manual H-gate gearboxes with a foot clutch... I'd be for that, never mind DRS/KERS, miss a gear and you get passed!

There is a difference between being told that you are losing a 10th on corner 3 it is somewhat different trying to make it up without locking a wheel etc.

Throw some more gravel traps in too. Sounds like heaven. And 1985. Which to a degree is true, the sport evolves sometimes for the better,
sometimes not. Drivers in 1985 weren't confronted with a steering wheel that could run a small country, or a brakes and aero package that
could rip a hole in the time-space continuum. The '88 McLaren wasn't designed to look like the most minimalist thing of beauty it is, they just
didn't have the nouse to put all the frills on they do now.

Drivers are bombarded with so much more info now, it's so integral to them, that taking it away might not be a good thing. Since Senna and
particularly MS came along being a driver is no longer just getting in a car. The whole prototype has changed.

One of the few recent changes I agree with. Makes it more of a sport when the driver has more input. Will be interesting to see who benefits and who loses out by having less info given to them. As an early prediction I can see Alonso benefitting (rarely do you ever hear the team telling him to do things) and Massa losing out (he had to be told about pedals in the last race).

It's a good first step.

I wonder what kind of penalties will be dished out for what kind of infractions?

So we will now have to get used to hearing things like: "Nico, the old lady rolls over at midnight to pee." Translation: Two clicks down on the diff to the 12 position setting and we need to save fuel. This is going to be interesting.

Such fun...

I'm pleased they're doing this. Would they be allowed to talk if there was a technical issue and the driver needed to know about settings. Like for instance when Lewis' electrics went funny. And would they be allowed to put info on the pit board?

I don't get it, so do the engineers get to say if their driver is closing in on the driver ahead of vice versa?

What exactly can be said and not be said here? Is it just driving directives (like how to DRIVE faster) or more? The teams can easily work around this with coded crap though.

From Adam Cooper

Just to clarify, drivers can say still anything they want to the pit, on tyres, handling, whatever. The ban relates only to pit to car

Also I'm told that the pit will be allowed to give simple yes or no answers to questions from the cockpit, ie 'Should I go to yellow G3?'

https://twitter.com/adamcooperF1

From that then yes, I believe if someone has a problem they can radio in and ask should they do this and the pit can say yes or no. Basically it gives the drivers the initiative as it should be in F1.
