I kind of understand why K Mag was given a penalty this time around. A lot of cars squeezed past there with no incident or pushing off the track apart from the Jenson/Perez incident which was marginal. When you consider Bottas was in a markedly faster car he should've just been a bit more compliant like Massa did with Lewis.

He didn't deserve it at all and half the drivers and teams have already came out and backed Magnnuson because it was not deserved, he raced fair and couldn't of done anything even if he wanted to.

What a poor race from the Mercedes pair. The 'battle' between these two is the only real story there is this season and when we expect to see some good racing all we get is choking, Hamilton with his poor start from pole and Rosberg apparently unable to turn in at the chicane. Too many mistakes with these two, it is starting to remind me of 2008 when the racing at the front was also lacking.

Luckily though we have Bottas and Ricciardo! Wow what a show they put on today. Bottas made a nice go of getting up the grid (twice) after having his start ruined by Hamilton and Ricciardo was brilliant at the end passing at will, beautiful passes. Ricciardo imo is the best racer in F1 right now. If only these two were fighting for the championship.

Hopefully Rosberg and Ham can put on a decent show in the last six races.

What the hell were you watching.... Lewis had a start mode problem, not his fault at all and actually did rather well considering. Only losing 2 places with that much of a deficit in power is impressive.

Too many mistakes? wut? Lewis, Bottas and Ricciardo were by far the top 3 drivers today.

Hamilton's poor start wasn't his fault from what I understand. his ers or something was muddled up according to his engineer.

Too much wheel spin, Hamilton just didn't get the power down.

lmao, you've got to be kidding... His car had no ERS which means on the start it's incredibly hard to get the power down and you have to take some wheel spin and damge your tyres a bit to get the engine upto speed otherwise you'll be overtaken by 6-7 cars.

I miss the good old days when spinning up your wheels at the start was was an obvious driver error, today it is all so convenient to blame one of the many acronyms for your mistake. Anyway the car and ers seemed to be working perfectly, it on the pace immediately and was the fastest for the whole race.

yes we accept your mea culpa, have a look at the lap sector times from the first couple of laps. Please try to do some rudimentary reasoning and/or research before letting loose next time

Mistakes and all, Lewis won... comfortably.

Are those the laps he was tight to Massa's wing who was being held up by Magnusson? Hamilton's pace was fine, I think you should actually watch the race and not rely on just data!

From the radio transmissions broadcast Hamilton had to change a switch position, so it appears he had it in the wrong mode or something. No real issue.

epic racing today from 4th place on down!! Rosberg was a big disappointment today. Ricciardo is the $#@!*& MAN!!! HAHAHAHA STOMPING VETTEL BIG TIME!!!:rofl::rofl: The magnussen penalty was harsh. I understand why it was investigated in a sense because magnussen just left no room whatsoever, but they should have just given him a verbal warning or something. Nice work from sergio perez as well splitting those mclarens and making them both work hard as $#@! for it!!

Nice try, but no he didn't hit a wrong switch, they were trying to rest things from the pits. His 'race start' was reading on when it shouldn't have been. He had no power on the start..not wheel spin..NO POWER. The race mode wasn't working. Ok? and on the topic of starts, Ricciardo's was poor, very poor. I'm not wanting to take anything from Ricci here, because he drove a brilliant race! I'm just wanting to help you take off the anti Hamilton glasses and see what actually happened in the race,

WHAT??!!! You missed the bit about Lewis car being the problem then? And I think you'll find Bottas' race was ruined by Mag. Ricciardo is indeed a good racer but has not yet proved himself as Hamilton has. Bottas also very good, but has made plenty of little errors .
Methinks your race was spoilt and you are a little down in the mouth because the guy you dislike a lot won. Oh dear, how sad, never mind!

I guess it is the Mercedes domination which reduces the season to watching the 'battle' between Merc drivers. So when you see the battle being reduced to a battle of mistakes (Hamilton's start and unforced lockup, Rosbergs missed chicanes) it is a bit disheartening. Maybe we will see some better racing from these two in the coming races.

Also I watched the start again and Bottas was held up by Hamilton and then Magnusson came up following Massa and was able to slip into the gap as Bottas tried to move left around Hamilton.

Pathetic, ignoring the point of the conversation completely and repeating your stance from a few posts back.

Typical pathetic hater attitude, can't face facts, can't discuss the issue or point....just talks trash aka trolling. Go back to your :censored: hole fella.

Nico messing up Lewis' race in Spa was good racing then?

Enjoy Lewis Hamilton on his way to his second WDC. I'm loving the butt hurt it's causing the h8rs.

"After the start problem, which was down to the car, he really made a good recovery," he said.

ok so you are now on the edge of 'a bit daft and misinformed' to 'facts dont matter, just my preconception and irrational dislike' You need to seriously consider working out your exact manifesto so that we may all avoid wasting time with each other and get on with things
#416248
It wasn't a battle of mistakes. Only Rosberg made mistakes. Ok Lewis flat spotted a bit near the end but it had no impact on the outcome. It's unfortunate if Bottas was held up by Hamilton, but that's what happens sometimes. Look how much Hamilton has been set back by technical issues outside his control this season. And that's exactly what happened here, Lewis had a technical issue which slowed him off the line, he didn't make a mistake.

Had Bottas not taken evasive action, it would've been a certain crash and Bottas was quite clearly ahead going into the chicane.

I was very annoyed by the penalty he got at Spa but i think the stewards made the right call this time. Watch a repeat of Lewis overtaking Massa at the same corner and you'll see why Mags was a bit naughty.
