Not saying Merc are relaxing, just that they have more to lose, if their development has taken a wrong turn. Short of a catastrophe they have this years championship, so why risk it.

They only have something to lose if you think a team could make changes test and implement enough in the remaining races to catch up and pass Mercedes.

It depends on how aggressively Merc wants to go after future years championships. I mean, with the advantage they have this year, there's no way known Merc should be able to lose - although they seem to be doing everything possible to screw things up via their driver management :hehe:

The fact of the matter is that Nando wants to drive beyond 2016. His contract with Ferrari is only til 2016. It's in Nando's interest, as he negotiates beyond 2016 to let all his suitors know how much they each want his services as that will drive his price up.

Looking at this from Ferrari's point of view, no matter how good Nando is now, there will come a time when his career and skills will start to wane. So the team needs to be looking further down the line. The only currently acceptable replacement for Nando if he went to another team is, IMO, Lewis. Dan is pressing though.

Sooooo....Luca could be on his way out...

The Arabs (Etihad owners) want him to have an active role in the Alihad airline - resulting from the merger of Alitalia and Etihad. Luca was a prime mover in putting the deal together for the Agnelli family. He has great respect from the Etihad owners because of the great success of Ferrari World for them which Luca also masterminded. They want Luca to have a prominent role to ensure the success of Alihad, which they want to rival the big European airlines. Luca wants to stay at Ferrari. The temp CEO at Alitalia is stepping down so Luca being a great fit is being suggested by a lot of pundits. He will probably take a very high position, but not operational.
