I got bored, so had a bit of an MNM moment.

The following stats are the drivers average compared to the teams average finishing results. I think it is an OK way to compare team mates results against each other, plus how they compare against the rest of the grid.

Fernando Alonso -2.195454545
Valtteri Bottas -1.392857143
Romain Grosjean -1.25
Adrian Sutil -1.2
Kamui Kobayashi -0.845238095
Nico Hülkenberg -0.842857143
Jenson Button -0.8
Jules Bianchi -0.5125
Jean-Éric Vergne -0.5
Daniel Ricciardo -0.479166667
Lewis Hamilton -0.066666667
Nico Rosberg 0.066666667
Sebastian Vettel 0.479166667
Daniil Kvyat 0.5
Max Chilton 0.5125
Kevin Magnussen 0.8
Sergio Pérez 0.842857143
Marcus Ericsson 0.845238095
Esteban Gutiérrez 1.2
Pastor Maldonado 1.25
Felipe Massa 1.392857143
Kimi Räikkönen 2.195454545

Engines
Mercedes -3.591824495
Renault 1.020229076
Ferrari 2.571595418

Isnt that just a sligthy more long winded way of presenting the teammate differentials?

i.e driver A will always be - the same amount driver b is +

same as saying Driver A has done % better than driver B on average, and you would save the extra typing

Maybe if you placed them all on a bar chart so we could compare the differentials across the teams would be a better display

Bottas was the stand out name in the list.

In fact anyone above RIC, as the opinion seem to be he has destroyed VET this year.

Alonso? At that average he has destroyed Kimi in relation to the others. He is almost double Bottas' average beating of Massa...

I know but the that has been well documented. Where as the Williams duo I did not realise the difference was so great

The only interesting thing about stats is a particular view or presentation that can shed a new insight into the data that the most basic human mind doesnt already know by virtue of having a billion processors working in parallel between their ears.
Driver A has whipped Driver B, great - you need 1 processor to crunch that data. When you start talking about dnfs, and issues and weather and luck and being new to the team and being a foreigner when a safety car would wreck the local heros day, well thats when you need a truckload more processors and thats when bias comes in with how you set up those processors.

Stats without context is like Flavio on a beach in a 3 piece suit, for example 5 years after Elvis died the % increase in the number of Elvis impersonators would have convinced your average mnm that come 1985 3/4 of all humans alive would be Elvis impersonators. Mind you the average mnm is still in hiding till Seb wins his 25th WDC :hehe:
