'Legacies on the line'...the Merc pair this year...... :)

Good read but that could depend on reliability, if one suffers significantly more than the other and it's the deciding factor then I dont think it would be so damaging to the one losing out.

I don't mind who loses out ...so long as it's not Lewis... :D
His four in a row dominant wins, were stopped by a very iffy 'mistake' by NR in Monaco Q3.

Lewis is too honest & IMO has been too compliant in the past ....but stood up for himself at the last race ....when he didn't slow down to let Nico past...but intimated that if Nico was close he would comply...but Nico wasn't.

If this Championship is won by the driver with less DNFs/mechanical issues in Quali etc....I'll be very disappointed... :(
Edit...Hope the title is won by the best racing driver..... 8-)

He is right though that the numerous Hamilton detractors would not remember the reliability if Lewis loses. Bad luck, reliability etc will become wrapped up in some label - like mental fragility or lack of car empathy or failure to rally the best resources in the team, or the most outlandish one we have heard so far, on this very forum - that his mental weakness manifests as bad luck and dnfs.

Also even this report that appears to be insightful and objective, has already declared that Lewis has let the mental strain get to him which is why he unraveled in Monaco
So an otherwise objective piece still finds the need to fall back on the old stereotypes (note Nico is consistent thru the season and no mention of mental strain for him, despite at least as many screwups in quali) and so Lewis is being let down by 'intellect' but has 'instinctive speed advantage' over Nico who has been consistent and mentally sound, no mention of failures to overtake back markers in the best car or an irrational belief that he is leading the title chase on merit

Nope the report is absolutely correct in that if Lewis doesnt win then his detractors will receive a free pass to point at the statistical anomaly associated with the best driver not winning in the best car and ofcourse will also have free reign to make up whatever reason fits whatever stereotype thats in vogue.

However he will win, cos my sig says so :hehe:

Well, I guess one can't expect hamilton fans to take the article for face value. Somebody had to make it out to be another assault on hamilton after the author clearly called rosberg out for not having to put in epic drives so far. Victim mindsets...like driver, like fans!

whats saying someone is affected by the mental strain gotta do with having epic drives

dont bother replying till you have a few more F1 seasons under your belt

I was referring to the give and take the author gave to both drivers, but surely I shouldn't have expected you to see that when you couldn't even avoid taking the article as a dig at hamilton, noted by your mentioning of stereotypes coming through. Are they still stereotypes if they're true? :scratchchin:

Oh, sorry tex, I didn't know there was a mandatory amount of years as an f1 fan required to reply to you. I won't mistakenly assume I don't have to spell anything out for you. My apologies.

I can't wait to watch hamilton lose this championship over the next eight races because he has the same affect as a young girl :drink::drink::drink::drink::drink:

5 rights dont excuse 1 wrong bud, you dont let a murderer go free because he helped an old lady cross the road, unless ofcourse you are a flake
#413014
I get the analogy but jesus h........alright, I'll play ball like the other team.

I can't believe the author suggested rosberg hasn't put in any champion's drives. Every time rosberg gets behind the wheel is a champion's drive. He beat the best driver in formula 1 three years in a row and he doesn't have to fake having dirt in his eye when he can't keep up with his teammate

Has to park it at Monaco though after four straight losses to Lewis

Still a gladiator-esque move, when compared to radioing in for help after starting from pole and the car ahead started from the pitlane. :yikes:

Yes. Much as it infuriated, it has to rank higher than crying on the radio for Lewis to slow down and let him past.
